Wallpaper glue on paneling
Comments (1)Vinegar should help. There is also a commercial wallpaper glue solvent you might buy to mix with your hot water. Check Home Depot or someplace similar. Also, check out this message board. Here is a link that might be useful: Wallpaper removal....See MoreAsbestos glue under my wallpaper?
Comments (1)Great question. Two thoughts, post this on the remodel forum to see what they think and second, take a sample or send a sample to a testing lab. It usually cost around $20/sample. You could contact your public health department to see where they suggest having it sampled....See MoreHard-as-nails, dried-up wallpaper glue disaster
Comments (3)Okay, so after Diffing the heck out of it, I scraped pretty much all of the paste off. The trick was to spray the Diff, let it sit, then spray some more, let that sit . . . and repeat that process, letting the Dif sit for at least 45 minutes, going in small increments. It took a full week of evenings after work. I bought a shellac-based sealant/primer and painted that over everything. I then filled in obvious gaping wounds with drywall filler, let that dry, painted on a heavy duty primer and then painted. Of course, it's only been three weeks, but the paint job looks marvelous and I think it's going to be okay. Thanks for the advice. Comments (5)If you make the choice to use TSP indoors you have to find a way to flood rinse it. I think they even use the word "flood" on the directions - can't remember. But anyhoo, if you don't thoroughly, thoroughly, super rinse TSP it will come back to haunt u. Might be a week later, might be a year later. TSP retards adhesion of whatever product you lay on top of it -- that's why you have to flood rinse it. Because of the risk involved with TSP and the fact that it has to so aggressively be rinsed, it's not recommended for indoor use. It's an out door kinda thing. If you're going to buy something to dissolve the glue, order some Safe-n-Simple. It's made for removing wallpaper. Soap and water - not so much. And you have rinsing issues with soap and water or fabric softener and all those other 'make-do' kind of removal methods. Clean up as much as you possible can and then absolutely use GARDZ to seal it and prep it for paint....See Morebudge1
