Using Farrow and Ball paint in bath?
Comments (3)I have had BM replicate other company's paint colors and they always do a great job, but not F&B so far. I recently did a bathroom, and the main thing is that you deal with the moisture problem first, which it sounds like you have. In our case the exhaust fan worked but it was not installed flush and not sealed, so it was drawing air from the space above the ceiling as well as from the room. We fixed that, and moisture is not a problem. However, you just need to use a semi-gloss paint. You don't need kitchen and bath, necessarily, just one with a higher sheen to it, so any moisture will bead up. That's the advice I was given at BM. If you are worried about mold, they can put an additive in it, but if you've got mold growing on the walls it is more than a paint question!...See MoreAnyone have any pictures of Farrow and Ball Fawn?
Comments (13)Thank you!! I'm looking for a good neutral, not gold, not a lot of green since my countertop has a good amount. Kind of like that Martha Stewart color that she uses a lot. I have Wedgewood drabware and I thought a wall color similar to that, but not too dark would work. That way I can pop my color in other ways around the room. My other color in the running is Crown Point Sand by BM. But on my walls during the day it looks very gold/green. I love it at night. The way you describe fawn sounds great, although I don't see a smidge of yellow in my wall sample. I painted a 2x4 and move it around the room. Very nice color. These aren't the best pictures. We will paint the backsplash and all the wall. Money is tight so backsplash is on hold for a bit. My chairs in the living room are a silver sage type of color and the rug has green, sage, brown and blue in it. The table in the kitchen is from the patio, just wanted to see if that size works. Eventually we'll get a dark round wood table ane new chairs. And window treatments! Granite is Costa Esmeralda You've been so helpful. Thank you! Comments (3)I love FnB for the reasons you mention. Ive used used Farrow's Cream in the vestibule and LR and a dressing room in my old house. Its the rare color that looks exactly as it does on screen. I've used Ringwold in a MBR, and found it a bit too peachy at some times of day. In our new home, Ive used Lime WHite, Pointing, WHite Tie and SLipper Satin, and love them all. BUt I think you are going for something darker than those? I also like Charleston Gray and French Gray, which I used on some fixtures. I did not like Ball Green, as it it far more green that it looks. Hope that helps. I just noticed in this second post that you have cherry bottom cabs and painted uppers --- i like it!...See MoreHas anyone used Farrow and Ball Brinjal?
Comments (8)True that even the sample pot can be quite misleading. Especially if it's an already painted wall that you are sampling upon. F&B colors are very sensitive and when you are sampling it upon an existing paint color, the tested color would be greatly distorted by it's surrounding color. F&B is benefited by color harmony & color relationship. For example, if you want a blue more blue, try using it next to gray or greenish colors. Another important factor is the light source. Perhaps this explains why certain color is red in one house and purple in another. :-> For me, the way to sample F&B is to paint the sample on white poster board (3-4 coats) and try to view it apart from other colors. View it at different times of the day as well for what you see during the day may become a totally different color at night. Also, when using F&B the always looks so bad at the first couple walls . But when you finish the whole room, something magical happened and it's beautiful. :-> I am so used of seeing F&B chips and extrapolate it to room, but most of my friends think their color chips are just plain ugly. :-> This does not help does it? ;->...See Morerococogurl
