Thoughts? The plaid chair is on CL for $75 OBO. (I only paid $25 for the denim blue chair.)

Oh Jen! I think it's very very cute. And it compliments your first chair beautifully. Overall, $50 for each chair (a total of a $100 divided by 2...)is an excellent deal...assuming you pay full asking price.

Oh, why can't I stay away from CL? Although Cathrugg, you're right -- these aren't exactly high-priced chairs we're talkin' about here! ;-) I think DH is getting really spoiled (unreasonable?) though, because when I told him that these folks were asking $75 (OBO) for this chair, he balked like that was too much money to spend on a **gasp!!!* -- chair! Silly boy.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I can fit it in. I can easily move everything down towards the entry to this alcove, on the left wall, to create more room to the right of the blue chair.

Oh, I like the chair too. The thing I like about wingbacks is that they really are very compact chairs due to the staighter backs. Promote it to DH in the way of marital togetherness. :) If that doesn't work, offer him the one with the footrest. The one chair looks so cozy to sit in the evening and read, but then you are all by yourself. :( You could look for a long time and not find such a good match.

I bet you could get that chair for $60 as well if you made an offer--not sure if you should start with $50 and try to settle in the middle--but that is what I'd try. Make sure to ask about any pets or smoke it that is a concern to you since it is upholstered.

I wonder if your alcove is wide enough so you could angle the two chairs to either side of the window and move the desk the one of the side walls. That way the footstool would not block traffic as much.

I just noticed you mentioned it was OBO. I'd start with $50.

I tried every imaginable furniture arrangement last night to see if I could make it fit, and it's a no go. My spaces are just entirely too tight to accommodate another chair. I sadly called the seller back and told her I just couldn't make it work. I'm still bummed about it, though. Heck, I even walked through the rest of the house to see where I could use it, and I just don't have room.

Oh well -- looking on the bright side, I guess I "saved" at least $50. (But I would've rather had another cute chair ...)

LOL, Joann! That's kinda what came to mind last night when I was seeing how two chairs would work in that space. At first I thought it would be nice to have seating for two, but the alcove itself seems to only want to be for one! It's like it's meant to be a little solo retreat where I can escape from DH (and ok, vice versa), and two chairs just completely ruined that vibe. Anyway, thanks. You've helped me feel better about "just saying no."

I'm sorry the chair didn't fit, but it's good you found it out now, before you bought it. Upholstered chairs do take a lot of space and visual bulk so kuddo's to you for "just saying no." Your alcove really is very charming as is.
