Need help choosing a dining table size for our new home.
Comments (3)I would do a round table 56” in diameter...would look great. or a 56” x76” rectangle you subtract 30” from both sides of table for room to pull out chairs and maneuver around the space...also from length.. so take the width of your room and subtract 60” and take length if your room and subtract 60” Room width....116-60=56” wide for table width room length....136-60=76” long for table length...See Morehelp me choose baseboards
Comments (16)If you're cutting this and putting it together, primed fingerjoint or clear pine is a better option. MDF doesn't make very sharp cuts, doesn't sand as well and just doesn't stand up like wood. Get as many 16 footers as you have long walls. Start by cutting the one for the longest wall first and then go down. Unless you have a lot of short spans, 7 or 8 foot pieces will require joints, which will show. Watch several Youtube videos on cutting and installing baseboard before you start. It takes more skill than you think. And did I say don't use MDF? Comments (6)Nancy, personally I think that the simple, Craftsman style casing would look best with baseboards of the same style. It’s a pretty versatile style. Having said that, I replaced all my baseboards and door casings several years ago as part of a major remodel. I was updating and modernizing throughout. I was inclined to use simple, Craftsman trim, but sometimes I found it to be a little boring, though I like the clean style. Eventually I found an alternative that I liked better. It’s still fairly simple but has some detail that makes it more interesting. Just might work for you. I’ll attach a couple of photos. This trim is a WindsorOne product, part of their Greek Revival line if I recall. Comes 3/4 inch thick. For the baseboards I had my contractor plane the trim down to 1/2 inch thick. Also to use it for the door casing, the edge or corner closest to the door needs to be rounded off; it’s milled with a sharp corner there. If...See Morenini804
