Hi, this isn't finished and it's really rough, but here is an approximation of your cabinets in a white similar to Dove White. I ran out of time and am posting this draft so that you can at least see this. Hopefully someone else will drop by and give you something better.

Hi,Chickoryflower! Yes, I have been very busy. I am a woman on a mission. Once I start a project, I usually go full throttle. Anyway, I decided I really like the white cabinets and red paint. I saw a picture of someone's kitchen that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I hate to post someone's picture without giving credit, but I really dont know whose kitchen this is. I plan on go through finishedkitchensblogs.com tonight and scouring that site to find out its owner.
If anyone recognizes this kitchen, please let me know so I can give credit (and check out more of their gorgeous pics, ha ha)

Chick- you are the greatest. Appliances are newer and they have to stay. I hope to replace the backsplash and countertop soon (countertop looks better in pictures than in reality. It is actually a 20 year old formica butcherblock that is peeling and warped in some areas). However, seeing it with the white cabs, I might consider doing real butcher block (although I do like Patches123's dark counter also).

Chick, we went from dark cabinets to a real light bisque (replaced the cabs as they were very old). I posted a couple of pictures because you were thinking of some beadboard. We're so glad we put in the beadboard - it is warm and compliments the kitchen.

I agree, I love the red, and the brown looks boring. I would love to see some neutral color for backsplash maybe travertine tile?? Could you also try different counter colors?? My floor is linoleum; its a biege/taupe color so what would you suggest for countertop? I was thinking maybe charcoal grey or matte black or maybe even stay w/butcherblock (but real this time).
Thanks for the above posts. That picture shows me I need to carefully consider the white I use on my cabinets. Maybe I should go a little white/grayish or white/creamish not too bright white. Dove wing, I am thinking.

Ooh, Chicoryflower, those are some nice reds. You do lovely work.

Snicky, I think you can do some really cool things with your soffits. Here's a link to a kitchen that has moulding which frames the soffit nicely. I really like the size of the artwork on the soffit.

Other ideas I've seen include making the whole soffit look like moulding by combine multiple pieces. Sometimese these areas are made more ornated by putting those raised decorative motifs on them and painting the whole thing.

Dutch and Acoreana, thanks so much for the links!! That is exactly what I was thinking these soffits need! Maybe it will update the look?? I just bought SW Fired Red paint this morning and have been researching cabinet painting like mad this weekend. I am going to paint the ceiling in a few mins. and primer the walls tomorrow. Wish me luck, I am getting nervous about my painting skills , hee hee.
