Glass sheet instead of tile
Comments (9)Wall-installed (installed with any adhesive in any way) does not need to be tempered glass, (not by law or by code). = This is FYI, not anything more than FYI, not a recommendation to do something or not. It explains why glass tiles can be bought and sold. They make glass tiles very large now. If you want to go buy a big piece of cheap glass and "glue" it, go ahead and let us know how it goes and what it looks like. With or without art under the glass. Make sure the art will still look good when moldy. That kind of art....See MoreFitted sheets
Comments (3)Your mattress should be 80x80 & those flat king sheets should be 108x114. That would give you 28 inches one way & 34" the other. The general rule is the depth of the mattress plus 5-6 inches to tuck under on each size. You would have 14" for this on each side past you 80" on the shortest side. If that is enough, make the other side 108" also. Whater ever you come up with for the sides & tuck under....say 14", go inch below that to 13 & cut a 13" square from each corner. Fold those cut edges together & it makes your boxed corner when you stitch them. I sew elastic from 12" or so past that seam into the side area, all way around the end & past the seam on the other. Then do the same to the other end. I love dealing with flat sheets for other things too. You gets lots of fabric & have to make few seams. We got a good buy, $6, on industrial perma press king Martex sheets & made curtains for my daughter's whole house over 10 years ago & they are still in use & the nice part is wash & rehang. You can have all sorts of fun with sheets & your new machine....See MoreBenefits of a flat sheet over a duvet cover?
Comments (54)I think it was this thread that led me to try removing the top sheet a couple of years ago! And OMG, I love it. So does my spouse. No more sheet getting tangled around me or in my legs and feet! During the summer we remove the duvet and just sleep with the cover, or sometimes I put a thin blanket in it. I don't have any trouble stuffing a duvet though. We have it down to a science. Probably save time doing that once a week vs. futzing with the top sheet every day....See Morequestion for those of you that use a flat bottom sheet
Comments (9)I use flat sheets now for a bottom sheet. It is SO much more comfortable because you can pull the sheet VERY tight and tuck it in. The key is to make sure the sheets you buy are big enough. I bought mine from American Hospitality Supply, the only 100% cotton sheets they have. But you have to buy a case of 12. Still, they're HUGE, very comfortable, and only $20/sheet, which is a deal. Hotels use flat sheets for bottom sheets, which is probably why you can find sheets large enough in your bed size to tuck in on all four sides from hotel supply places. I would take a flat sheet you have now, measure it, put it on the bed, and see the minimum more width and length you'd need to be able to tuck it in on all four sides, then go looking for flat sheets @ that size. $250 - free shipping, so order something else you need as well. I bought a case of All Free & Clear laundry detergent, and it is not the same as the weak stuff they sell in the stores. This stuff smells putrid, but works much better. But it doesn't make the clothes smell at all. These are the sheets I ordered. But definitely take measurements. http://www.ahscompany.com/1888-Mills-Green-Threads-Flat-Sheets-Queen-96x120-100-Organic-Combed-Cotton-White-1-Dz-Per-Case-Price-Per-Dz-_p_20198.html...See Morehoosiergirl
