Mixing metals in room?

Hi, I am just about done refinishing my CL coffee and end tables. They have a dark "antique pewter" ring pull on the drawers. Unfortunately, I had already gone out and bought antique brass curtain rods for that room (all the door hardware, foyer and DR lighting is bright brass, DR furniture pulls are antique brass). Will this look OK, or should I change either the pulls or the rods? I'm not sure how the Stickley repro furniture will look with antique brass pulls, but I haven't been able to find dark nickel/pewter rods.

Personally, ajsmom? I wouldn't worry about it a bit. Unless it sticks out like a sore thumb or you tell those that visit your home, I seriously doubt anyone will notice. If they do I doubt they'll think it odd. Let it be for a week or so and I bet you no longer notice it.
I sure hope you'll share pictures of them when they are completed.

Thanks - I think I'll be able to put lacquer on the tables this week, should be able to move them into the house (my garage is now a workshop!) next weekend after they're dry, I'll take pics then. The room (heck, the whole house!) is a bit "eclectic" since we have a contemporary Natuzzi sofa, these Stickley knockoff tables (though I think the lines of the legs echo the sofa arms), an Oriental carpet, and Morrocan Tile pattern drapes over roman shades. Or will, once I finish the window jambs and trim and hang everything. Then we'll be looking for table lamps, DH wants a recliner and a flat screen TV in there too.

I have a mish mash of styles of furniture - shaker, mid century modern, industrial Home Depot, second hand cottage, elderly IKEA, early hippie. That generally doesn't bother me. However I have been looking for a small dining table for years - so far when I find a reasonably priced one in ok shape I generally veto it because of the turned legs. I have nothing against turned legs but it is my sticking point. One style too many. Meanwhile I eat on the couch. I can completely understand being uncomfortable with visual chaos and the difficulty of integrating one's vision with someone else's. Especially if their vision is summarily plopped on me. If it is temporary I would try to set up the most comfortable space possible and use whichever lamp works best for functionality.

Jan Moyer, I had a question. You mentioned a less "heavy" return rod. Could you please explain this for me? Do you mean a lighter metal as the Dark Antique Brass looks too dark and heavy? Or a thinner rod? I looked up return rod and it showed something that didn't have finials and also was called a french rod. Are you suggesting light linen pinch pleat drapes on this type of rod?

Thank you! The sconce is listed as a "wall sconce" by Aerin Lighting. It also comes in Antique Brass and it pivots - may be helpful over floating shelves. It will be hardwired. I've been searching for a sconce that is somewhat affordable and does not look like a bathroom or entry/hallway fixture, nor industrial. I liked the clean lines of this one, but am certainly open to suggestions. We cannot use can lights due to the roof line above the ceiling - existing can lights nearly caught on fire due to space restrictions (and I suspect moisture). They no longer work, but cannot be removed without tearing out the ceiling, hence a remodel. The ceiling will be stained somewhat dark. I like bronze spots best, but worry about mixing colors. If you advise that bronze spots will work with brass sconces, then that is the direction I would prefer over the various nickel finishes. Will it be OK to use black metal wine racks if we use bronze spots? The spots are by Pure Edge Lighting and called "Rebel" I really need and look forward to your professional advice! Thank you!

Can’t decide all polished nickel or mix unlacquered brass in too?

I just had this same dilemma last week for my build — the majority of my master bath is using unlacquered brass fixtures from Rohl. However, I was hesitant to use ULB in the shower as I just didn't think I would like the potential verdigris in a space that is meant to feel clean. Because of this, I opted for a polished nickel shower tower from Rohl. I know that mixing metals in rooms is widely accepted, but I wasn't sure if mixing metals for fixtures would be. Based on the floor plan of the master bath, I felt it would be totally fine and look appropriate. Right now I have a floor mount tub filler & wall mount sink faucets in ULB, shower trim in polished nickel. I will probably incorporate polished nickel into some light fixtures as well.

I'll be looking for your finished pictures. Our home too is definitely "eclectic". And right now, not so much in a good way either. :^(

I've mixed finishes. One advice that I've heard is to try to keep all finishes at one "level" in a room the same, like upper lever one finish, lower level a different finish. I noticed the third time that I stayed at a friend's house that her bathroom has hardware and fixtures with THREE different finishes! I didn't even notice on the first two nearly week-long stays!
