You certainly are a perfectionist, I would have never guessed that you make everything in your room as it surely looks professionally make by a studio. Your talent just seeps out! Honestly your room is just gorgeous. It's nice you have a Dad with talent too. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely room, as you can tell we are all very impressed with what we have seen you do once again.

You are right, the "neon" description for the current paint probably wasn't the best way to describe it, but it isn't as minty as it appears in the pics either. It's very bright nonetheless! Trust me, the nightstands look cheap as they are (I would take a pic but they are crammed in with other storage items in the garage) I'd never use them as is. They wanted 15 bucks each and I have never painted anything before so I thought if I ruined them I wouldnt be out much. My original thought was to paint them black...but that was based on some pieces I've seen done in black including some bookcases that my mom had my SIL do for her in black. They all seem to come out looking good, so I thought it was a safe bet. That was before the headboard and paint color. So, any more votes for cream? I saw some cabinets done in SW Soft Tan that looked creamy....any thoughts?

Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I love hearing everyone’s opinions and greatly appreciate it. Looks like there is a decent consensus on the Sweet 100 so I will definitely give that one a try. Although, I have to admit, the purported size of the plant intimidates me a bit. I had originally hoped to try to stick with just determinate varieties this year but I am going to just scrap that. I will just give the Sweet 100 a 20-30 gallon SIP to itself and invest in a sturdy staking setup. I am not really interested in tomatoes for “slicing” I don’t think my landlords are either; although they are very excited for cherry tomatoes. Any other plants I choose will be used mostly for salsa and sauces which makes me initially lean towards planting a Roma. BER worries me but I am hoping that a SIP will help me in keeping my soil moisture as consistent as possible. Do you think Cobra, Lemon Boy, or Sub Arctic would work okay for sauces? I think Lemon Boy would make a very interesting salsa. I can’t say whether or not I like yellow tomatoes as I have no experience with them. Do you think Sweet 100 would work for a sweet basil marinara? Our nursery always used to carry Early Girl but, for some reason, they don’t have it this year. We had a farmer that used to come up biweekly to sell produce and he often had Sungolds. They always sold out fast and really helped me start liking fresh tomatoes. (I had no idea they could taste so sweet!) I will be haunting the local Cnd Tire and other stores closer to planting time to see what they have and if any of it is worth paying money for. Unfortunately, I have no space available for starting or nurturing plants like toms inside. I am currently renting a small bachelor style basement suite that walks directly out to the back yard. I have one large east facing window but no room for any type of grow setup at the moment.

This is a small space = super tough to get a sanding machine in there to get off ALL the old finish. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the gold streaks are areas where the old finish was left on. This would indicate an incomplete sanding event. In a such a small space = not unheard of. It doesn't make it "right" it just gives it a reason for being. There are some areas where the sanding is a bit rough (again...small bathroom = horrible place to sand) which is another indication of sanding concerns. And issues with sanding will cause issues with stain coverage/appearance. To get a sense of the real stain, you may have to give this person a BIGGER space to work with. Tiny bathrooms are horrible areas to "start". Sanding is a BEAR the floors are often contaminated with LOTS OF STUFF and the small square footage really limits the ability to correct for these issues. I would go ahead and ask for a small bedroom to be sanded and stained. That's when you look with a critical eye at his technique. And BTW...the bathroom will need to be done again....but that should be the LAST room s/he attempts - not the first.
