Show me the soffit/molding/trim above your window!
Comments (4)Personally...I have to tell you, then when I see a window in the middle of a run, I do like to see that decorative board tie them together, so I'd take this as a design yea verses nea :) (Although I am known as the soffit police girl around my place). My plumbers kept telling me I was going to have a one or two inch soffit that had to run the legnth of the kitchen, including the window area, and I said "Nope" get rid of it...somehow they did (perhaps they just cut the pipes) :oP But it's gone. The way your's is though in my mind sounds ok to me. I think the trim idea you've found is a great option :)...See MoreNatural wood trim & gray walls - Please share your room decor
Comments (0)Wahoo ... We received notification that our short sale offer has been approved! Now the fun begins... trying to figure out what paint colors, as the entire interior needs to be painted. The townhouse is about 1700sf, built in mid-1990's and has solid wood trim and solid doors throughout. This would have been a big upgrade when it was built and we love the wood, but the color is "honey". The wood floors are also the same natural honey color too. Our plans right now are to paint the main floor a soft gray ... but I wonder how this will look. Could anyone please share photos of their natural wood trims and gray wall colors! I just cannot visualize. We are so excited that after waiting months to hear from the bank, that we are finally moving forward! Thanks Bonnie...See MorePlease Share Pics of Your Wood Paneled Rooms - PICS
Comments (39)debelli, the dark cherry paneling is from a house around the corner in our neighborhood. We tried to put in a bid, but found out the bank (it was a foreclosure) had already accepted a bid less than 24 hours before. We were pretty bummed, we really loved all the built in storage in that house. We fell in love with the neighborhood, so we kept looking and found our current house about a month or so later. The yellow-y looking paneling with the table and lamp is our actual office, although it's the listing picture. We haven't taken any pictures of this (I'm sitting in it) because we have it jam packed with IKEA office furniture. It's absolutely utilitarian, so definitely wouldn't inspire. DH works from home. Since the rest of the house needs work, I'm leaving this office to last. I'm guessing that we won't do much, no paint, DH doesn't want to change the paneling at all. The houses in my neighborhood were built between the mid eighties to mid nineties and ALL of them have paneling of some type either in an office or formal living room. I believe nearly everyone's paneling is done with birch luan and molding trim. Kathe...See MoreISO: paint suggestions to lighten up a room with dark wood paneling
Comments (25)Thank you Betsy! I really do love the aesthetic of Studio McGee. I've been using their work as inspirational images. I also appreciate your suggestions for the stairs and the beams. Now my question is what should we do about the color in the rest of our house? Can we keep it the same and fine a white that will go with it or do we have to paint everything else as well?...See MoreDLM2000-GW
