Did you know that just about any paint store will have a machine to 'read' your fabric, and match the color? There is even a Ben Moore store near me which does it by eye, and they do an incredible job.

I'd take the quilt with me while paint shopping, and pick up color cards that look close to it. Make sure you view them in natural light as the florescent lights in most of the stores distort colors, as do our varying monitors.

I had a piece of fabric that I took to Lowe's recently, as I had a coupon for a free sample jar of Valspar paint. They put the fabric in the the viewer (it doesn't get harmed in any way) and the resulting paint color was a perfect match.

I was going to say the same thing as my3dogs. That's how I match colors when it has to be "just right".

On my monitor, the blue porcelain color doesn't appear to have a lot of green in it.

If that's the case, I was wondering about SW Krypton. We had that in the master bedroom and bath of our previous home and to me, it was very clean, fresh, and restful looking.

Randita - that's a VERY nice and yes soothing color. Only thing is there is a bit of green in the blanket. You're right though - after looking at PB's website again I can see why you thought there wasn't any in there. I'll put a link in this post of another PB item that's the same color but different material so you can see the green in it. But what's funny is that in reality there's not THAT much green in it - haha.

I did chip it! on the shower curtain and it comes out SW Dutch Tile Blue if that helps....

On screen, looking at the shower curtain stripe, it looks close to BM wedgewood gray.

but for a more soothing room, I think I would go with a much lighter shade of that color...that color seems too saturated to be soothing to me.

In my room, it took forever to get the right color and what I realized was I was looking for the color of the sheen in the drapery fabric when the light hit it...that's not something a color machine or even a person is going to be able to match as it needs to be done in the actual light in the room. So I brought home about 15 paint chips and I taped them up to different walls to look at them during different times of the day, and finally found it. It was a PPG color.

You too will be dealing with the sheen in the fabric, so you may have to go through the same process.

Those are both beautiful colors Annie. I think either would go depending on the depth of color Theresse wanted.
Good point about needing to bring color chips home to checking in the lighting in your own home when using shimmery fabrics as they appear different even at home throughout the day.

Theresse I forgot to mention earlier what beautiful bedding you picked out.

Your title says you want to pick paint to go with gold silk curtains, but I see no reference to them. I think I'd also be considering which blue is going to look best with your draperies. Maybe if you link which draperies you have or post a photo, people will have a better idea of paint colors to suggest.

I have the PB Matine Toile quilt in Porcelain Blue. When I took it to my local Ben Moore store they suggested that Palladian Blue was the best match. So that is what I went with and I think it looks great. So you could try that.

Palladian blue has a lot of green in it...I have it in my exercise room.

If you're getting gold draperies why not do the walls in a nice soft gold that blends with the drapes? I've always thought when wall color and draperies are close to the same pallette the room tends to look larger. If the windows themselves are not particularly attractive I don't see the point in accentuating them with different color drapes.

And I LOVE the quilt! I've been looking at it for the last year, but can't make the decision to order it in the cream or tan. You mention something about the dry cleaning only being a mistake, have you washed yours? TIA
