If I remember correctly it took 2 cans to make one. You cut the top out of the cans. This includes the rims. Cut one can in strips down halfway and bend the strips to form a pinwheel effect. punch a hole in the bottom centers of each can and insert the pinwheel can into the the other can. Hang several of these in your tree. The holes are to use for hanging. The wind blows the pinwheels catching the sun on the vanes. It worked for his squirrels. The only advantage I see over the deer netting is you don't have to take them down unless they stop working and then you replace it with a new one. You can't leave deer netting up year round. I'm thinking he an used old wire coathanger as a hanger. Unwind the hanger where it attached to the hook and cut that half off. Insert the bottom thru the cans and turn the end up to keep it from sliding back through. Squeeze the hook of the hanger over the branch to keep it from falling off....See MoreThere's no Closet Forum, so....Can We talk Walk In Closets?
Comments (21)Lots of really good light is necessary. Trying to differentiate between the navy blue pants and the black pants and then trying to find socks that match is hard without good lighting. I'm always having to bring my stuff out of the closet into the bedroom where the light is better to figure it out. I have a mix of hangers - padded ones for blouses, clipped ones for skirts, my Dh likes wooden ones for suit jackets and I like really strong ones for my jeans - and those are really hard to find these days. Costco often sells nice packages of hangers. Think about what you are storing other than clothes - shoes, purses (I have a deeper shelf at the top for purses so as to keep those pesky straps under control and they are in cubbies that hold about 4 purses each), accessories such as scarves, belts....See MoreHangers?
Comments (19)I use the fuzzy coated ones from Target, they don't take up a lot of room, clothes don't slip off. I saw them at Costco which I will buy when I see them again. I hate the tubular. DH pulls on his trousers and they get a sag, then everything falls off. They also take up too much room on the rod. I hate the wire (purchased) ones as they get lost in the closet, the cleaners wire hangers get returned to the cleaners, haven't found any other place that will take them. I will still use the plastic hangers with the sliding pinchers for my "coordinated" outfits. I used to buy the wooden ones for suits and coats but now have more than I need and they just take up too much room. Can you tell, my closet is still a mess....See MoreHiding a closet pole when not in use (and not using a curtain?)
Comments (9)In his batchelor days dh had a chin up bar /clothes bar (pipe) that rested on two decorative trim pieces on either side of the hallway and when he didn't want the bar there he just lifted up and out. The trim continue to look like attractive trim. Personally, if I have the space for the lumbar jocks cabinet I would be inclined to do that... Although I might use the kind of door that raises up rather than opens in the center. Note however that when there are clothes on the rod the doors must be open....See Morecoll_123
