I use the tubular kind. I finally got rid of the last of my wire hangers. (ala "Mommy Dearest") I'm sure someone will come up with an idea for you since you don't care for the drop down kind. I do have a couple of pants hangers that hold 4 pair. They overlap but work well for Harry's slacks.

I love the Slimline Hangers, I buy boxes of 50 at Bed Bath and Beyond. They give you a lot more space.

have had my eye on those new slim fuzzy-looking ones but not in any hurry to change... the best thing we ever did was to redo the closet with those wire shelves and make double rods...i have the good fortune of using the office closet for my clothes and let dh have the ones upstairs for his...

Yes, those slimline hangers look nice. We have no bed bath & beyond around here but I'll keep looking for something similar. Dropdown is ok, I have the loopy things that dropdown to hold hangers.

I buy those fuzzy slim ones in Costco. They are great! I am switching to them completely. I think there are 50 in the box and it's under $20.

I have about 10 really nice wood ones... about 25 dept store cheapie plastic ones...maybe 20 rigid plastic and WAAAY too many wire ones from the dry cleaners.
...and I can never find any empty one!

After reading Mommy Dearest I did away with wire hangers and bought the tubular ones. Now we live in FL where closet space is at a premium. I purchased Huggable Hangers from HSN and LOVE them. They take up very little space. I think I bought a 100 piece kit several years ago. I had a ball redoing our closets.

FYI the metal hanger does turn you have to coax it a bit when they are new. Did I say I LOVE them.

I use the plastic ones from Wal-Mart and the dollar store! LOL I like the thinner plastic ones and don't like to ones that have the little notch thingie that is suppose to keep your clothes from slipping off.I like to be able to pull my T-shirt off the hanger without taking it off the rod.LOL Don't like the ones covered with the foam stuff either for the same reason.I hate the hangers with the hook that moves around and I can't see spending that much on the ones from HSN.I'm cheap!

I use Huggable Hangers. Love them because NOTHING falls off them, they are slim line, don't give shirts those shoulder stretch marks, and can hold heavy things as well. They can be a bit pricey, but they have deals on them on either QVC or HSN - can't remember which.

I also turned my sis on to them. Note to self: I need to get more.

A few months ago I gathered up every single wire and plastic hanger in the house and gave them away on Freecycle. I now have the black slimline no-slip hangers from Costco in every closet. So nice.

I buy my plastic ones from Dollar Tree.

I love Joy Mangano's Huggable Hangers for all the reasons that Debi listed. They don't wear out, don't break, nothing slips off them, you actually do have more space, and they come in beautiful colors that brightem up the closet and make it look more tidy and unified.. They can be ordered on HSN or on the website.

We recycle wire hangers back to the drycleaners and do use thick wooden ones for DH's serious jackets and coats.

I use the fuzzy coated ones from Target, they don't take up a lot of room, clothes don't slip off. I saw them at Costco which I will buy when I see them again. I hate the tubular. DH pulls on his trousers and they get a sag, then everything falls off. They also take up too much room on the rod. I hate the wire (purchased) ones as they get lost in the closet, the cleaners wire hangers get returned to the cleaners, haven't found any other place that will take them. I will still use the plastic hangers with the sliding pinchers for my "coordinated" outfits. I used to buy the wooden ones for suits and coats but now have more than I need and they just take up too much room. Can you tell, my closet is still a mess.

I like the thin, furry ones too. Think I might have gotten mine at BBB. Also like the clear plastic ones which have swivel hangers. Do not like the tubular ones. They take up too much space and poke holes in the shoulders of knit shirts.

I did hear about a "Z" hanger which allowed you to put the hanger in and out without stretching the neck of the garment. Haven't seen them in the market though.

I have mix and match. Lots of plastic ones, and lots of fuzzy covered ones. I also have lots of space. Not that my closet is big, I just slimmed way down. Everything that didn't fit wasn't moved the last move. And just about every time I buy something, something goes out as well.

I like the space I have now.

I don't like the thin wire ones with the thin foam over them, for it falls apart when it gets old.

Some folks around here have braided cloth strips over those thin wire ones and it makes them handier, I think ... less slippable, at least.

I use mainly the thin wire ones - they seem to work O.K.

If I buy clothes, I make sure they come with a hanger...no hanger, no buy!!
Then as the clothes wear out, I save the hangers and that is what we have in all closets. The only exception are DH's slacks that hang on the tacky cardboard roll hangers that come from the cleaners. He likes those and the tackiness keeps his slacks from sliding off. The store hangers take up only slightly more space than the wire hangers, and are much easier on the clothing!
