Its very pretty and very feminine looking. Perfect for a "just me" room. I can see it in a sort of 'shabby chic' room that has more emphasize on the chic than the shabby. The big question is: Is it comfortable?

I happen to like it very much and think it is very good looking.

Believe it or not it is VERY comfortable! Even my DH who is hard to please when it comes to comfort thought it was comfortable!

I say, keep it and get some killer light blue chairs to match the rug. I saw some in a magazine over the weekend and they looked so classey. Wish I could find the magazine or wish I remembered the name of it.

It's lovely-- and so thrilled to see that it is comfy too. I totally see it fitting into your mentalpause switch to the cooler blues and neutrals.

I think you could keep the exposed wood as is since it works so well with your floors.. or you could sand it down and add a silver, milkpaint or white wash on it to give it a gustavian feel.

I'd hold off on wall color until you get the room together but I think you could do a cafe/mocha/taupe or a blue/green all with stunning results.

Blue chairs are a must I think :).. something equally comfy in either a pretty pattern or maybe a velvet?

Love the RH pillows but there is a lot of sheen to them that will make the room a bit more formal. Definitely love those colors!

I'd love to have some really pretty blue chairs! Do you think they'd become dated too quickly? What about the gold or brown colors in the rug? I love the idea of velvet! Now I must go shopping!

Have some chic silk drapes made ( light blue or tan) puddling on the floor. The color of your drapes will depend on the color of your wall and chairs.

Oh, I think that magazine was this month's House Beautiful and is at my sister's house, oh well.

Yes, My youngest is off to college! So far I'm handling things well. My DH and I are on a cleaning frenzy. We've cleaned the attic and the garage this weekend. All of the sudden I have a need to de-clutter my house!

So what do I do with my DR which is across the foyer from this room? It has wainscoting/beadboard at the bottom and above that wide open for discussion. It adjoins my kitchen which is SW blonde.

I don't know what the rest of the room looks like, but check out the raspberry sofa and the pillows used near the end of this gardenweb thread.......I think pillows similar to this varied collection would be cool on your special white sofa....

Yes! I am definity going to keep it! It is so comfortable and just seems to fit the room so well. I am still trying to picture the whole room..... I get an F in being a creative decorator. :(

It looks to be in the French provincial style and is a beautiful piece. Whether to keep it or not would depend on the rest of the house and the overall feel your going for. My only concern would be that sofas are such a dominant element in a room, you really want it to match the "your" style. Otherwise you will be fighting to incorporate this beautiful, but different piece into your scheme. As you know, decorating is hard enough without your hands being tied on the major elements in the room. You should look at some other French provincial inspired rooms to get a better feel for the style and see if it meets your tastes.

No I would say my style is not french provencial. I was hoping to soften the look with cool pillows and such.

I disagree with the notion that it needs to match a particular style. I see this sofa in your room as a focal point, while lending itself very well to an overall eclectic feel. I love it. I think it's just perfect!
