I love decorating with my kids' artwork.

What I am planning to do is to take some of the work and display it in this manner (see link). Of course doing it this way will not make it so that you can easily change out the pieces.

You could also do the same grid idea using inexpensive frames from ikea.

Depends on the look you're going for.

A wall-mounted clothesline or cable style rod for curtains, with the artwork clipped on with different clipping tools. Framing them is always an option, too. They even make frames that open to storage for additional artwork. You can do individual frames, or those cluster frames (one frame with a mat cut so that many pictures can be displayed).

You can let your kids control the display, and work the pieces into a collage.

Maybe something multimodal, like speall each kid's name with their respective artwork and turn the whole thing into wall art.

Depending on your budget, you can frame them pretty inexpensively. Many years ago my daughter painted family portraits. I bought matching black frames and have hanging in a hallway. She is 16 now and wants to die whenever anyone comments, but I love them and will never take them down :)

Anyway, I was just checking out this post because I also want to display my daughters artwork in a creative way. I plan on framing it and mixing it in with family pictures down my hallway.

Cork is great-we put cork over an entire wall and then finished with molding around the wall - it was great and we were able to showcase a lot of artwork.

There was a really great display idea in the most recent issue of Martha Stewart Living - it's in the article about the big loft with the swing in the living room. They built a lattice of wood strips, painted it, and attached it to the wall, then attached the artwork to it with "bulldog" clips. (I checked but I do not see the story on the website.)

I usually scan everything rather than trying to keep the mountains of artwork that comes home. The scans are then the "photos" that I use on my computer screen saver. I use one of the scans (abstract fingerpainting c. 2007) as the background on my phone. An added bonus is that you can just burn a CD for the grandparents and they can have a copy of everything too.

I had one large hallway wall with framed artwork from floor to ceiling (down now because of renovation). It even including a funny piece by my husband when he was a kid. I would buy inexpensive frames and paint each group one color. For my daughter's room we're getting a strip of metal across one wall and then she can use magnets to hang her art work, pictures, homework or whatever.

I think that if there are some really good pieces (I know you will say everything's really good! Probably true if they were in an art program!), I would certainly frame some of them, and I would look for slightly oversized frames (relative to the artwork) that have the double-glass/no mat--the "floating" frames. I suggest the oversized because down the line you could swap the art out if you wished, for, say, next summer's work.

Framing your kids' art will make them feel fantastic! (Maybe a bit embarrassing when they're teens, but c'est la vie!)

For the others, the magnet strip mentioned by BostonPam is a great idea. (The Container Store's Mighty Magnetic Strip is the look I'm thinking of, but you could certainly go to the big-box hardware store near you and get a nice length of metal to work with your space--just bring a magnet with you to make sure it'll work!)

How old are the kids? Any chance they would mess with the magnets, or with thumbtacks on cork?

This is timely because I just picked out 3 pieces of art (one from each of my kids) to frame and hang in my living room because after rearranging some "real art" I found myself with a blank wall. In this case, I'm just putting these 3 highly-prized works of art (one is a drawing from DS when he was about 3... he is now 18) in basic black frames with white mats.

One thing I did in our basement was to get wall decals that are "frames" (search on etsy.com), put them on the wall, and then put the kid's artwork directly on the wall inside the decal frame. It looks cute. You could get a bunch of the decal frames and arrange them on the wall in a pattern or randomly. The one I have is a black ornate frame so it's sort of a fun contrast with the kiddie artwork inside.
