I too thought it was logical to have the label inside the door. There is a label there, but it appears to be for the door part only. The only model number on it is the one I posted originally, QOC30UF. There is no other label on the inside of the door. This is one big label that has all the spaces to identify the circuits as well. I've looked everywhere I could, even taking the screws out and looking inside at the actual panel and there is no label anywhere that specifies what exact panel I have. All I know is that it has 30 spaces and has a 200 Amp main. From looking at the Square D docs, it looks like there are two models that have these specs... Unfortunately the difference between the two is that one can support 10 tandems and the other cannot, which is precisely what I am trying to determine. Any other ideas?

200Amp would be the way to go when you upgrade the service. I know from my own experiences that other people I work with have no clue what the code is because they either A)have never dealt with it or B) it's been some time since and does not remember. Also a few of the guys will give a higher number because they don't want the job & if the person agrees to it they laugh because they've "duped" someone into their higher price. That drives me nuts and I tell them refuse the work and don't even give a quote if you don't want to do the work. In Canada the code allows you to run 80% of your capacity. So if you were looking at putting a compressor in which is a continuous load then I would look at running it off a sub panel (I take it the compressor is in the garage) just for the garage. Depending on the draw of the compressor I typically run a 60Amp out to the garage and run all my circuits from there. If you are looking at putting in a new panel and not upgrading yet - look for a panel that is rated for 200Amp. The service can be updated at a later date. When I first got into side jobs I charged $35-45 an hour + material costs for my work. I claimed all the income I made . I now charge more as my experiences have built and I've always warranted the work done and insurance costs. People tell me my prices are low but then again I'm keeping busy and they aren't. I've also quoted entire jobs so no matter how long it takes it's the same price which CAN be very beneficial to someone if the time estimate goes over they aren't getting per hour charge.

My experience in selling our house in Oct 2009 was atypical for our area ( nothing was selling in out area or neighborhood, but I think will relate to your situation. The house was built in 1990. I have not read all of the responses but here goes. We painted the entire house to a neutral walls and white trim because it needed it. We did not paint the brick FP. We removed the wall paper in the FR but left the wainscot and folk wallpaper in the Kitchen and Bfst nook. Realtor had a cow and said house would never sell, but this still looked great. Maybe not HGTV but I was tried of taking wallpaper down... We replaced all of the carpet- bedrooms, finished lower level and FR- with a neutral flat more commercial berber from HD. Because it needed it and looked worn. This was cheap with free install. We had already moved out of the house and the upstairs had no furniture but all the windows all had white wide slat wood blinds. The living room had my Persian area rug and the piano. The dining room had a garage sale round dining table with a floor length canvas drop cloth for the table cloth and four black dining chairs. Oh and an ivy plant in the center. The family room had my old sofa with a white slipcover and my old leather ottoman with a copper tray on it. Oh yeah and two throw pillows. I changed out the kitchen knobs. I spray painted the light fixtures bronze, these were cheap shiny brass. Our house was spotless. Inside and outside and empty except for the mentioned items. The realtor listed it on a Friday night and it was sold by 7pm Sat night to the first people who looked at it Sat am. For asking price. Within 5% of two comps. We became friends with the buyers as we built a house on our adjoining property and they said they chose our house because it was newly painted and had new carpet so they didn't have to do that. They loved the wallpaper in the kitchen but immediately changed out the kitchen knobs. They wanted to buy my "dining set"... This house was under $500.000 and we spent under $3,000 to do the carpet and I did the painting. I will say that if the house was a more expensive and more upscale neighborhood, I would still have emptied and minimally staged. Nobody is buying your décor and even if you have to pack up and put everything into storage and live like Spartans I would do that at least. When we started cleaning it became apparent that the paint and carpet needed to be done. Once a house is emptied unless its newly painted even if clean it still can look grungy IMO. Sometimes people give a painting cash allowance at closing - that might suffice for some buyers. Most of the staging/updating I believe if for a certain price point. You know to help buyers choose between several closely comparable properties. If your home is appealing to a certain demographic because of a higher price then wouldn't those buyers want to pick their own flooring, paint colors fixtures etc?

I reread all the comments, took some time in nature, and then came back to the drafting table anew. It seems my desired wall oven is just not happening. My appliances have been downsized. I am not thrilled about loosing my wall oven, but it’s my concession to get the storage I want. My DH is getting his open wood shelving he want oh so bad. I also opened up the main walkway. Gave myself plenty of counter space left of the sink and added the appliance garage (I’m thinking like a bifold door? Thanks Mama Goose for the helpful photos!!) The island is now an L shape. Pantry is still small- but we eat mostly fresh food and I know it will be fine for our needs. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. (For those that don’t read the whole thread- the dining room is to the right, and Is used several times a day.) The family enters the dining room from the side where the stools are usually, not the kitchen.
