should my aunt tell her son who his real father is?

Thirty-five years ago, my aunt was a two-timer. She hated it. That phase didn't last long.

She and her boyfriend had been going out 4 years and were in love. However, her boyfriend, James, wanted to wait until he was ready to commit.

She met another man, Ed, and for a few months she was going out with out with both of them.

Eventually she dumped James and married Ed, because her dream was to be married and have children.

A few weeks after her wedding she found out she was pregnant. She knew the baby was James's (if it had been concieved 10 days later then it would have been Ed's), but Ed assumed that it was his and she let him believe it.

The baby, my cousin, was born in March '68. James died on the day my cousin was born, and Ed, who knew about James but didn't realise that James was the baby's real dad, let her name my cousin Timothy James.

My aunt and Ed had 6 other children, but Timothy was always my aunt's favourite, because James had been the love of her life.

My aunt recently confided in me, and asked whether I thought she should tell Ed and Tim the truth. Tim is now 34 with a wife, four daughters and a son of his own. Should my aunt tell him and his "dad" the truth?
