2 Fixtures charred in same location

When we purchased our house, a light fixture in the den was not working. It appeared to be charred. An electrician installed a new fixture. That was about 10 years ago, and now the new fixture also shows signs of charring.

The fixture has two 60 watt bulbs, and I've never exceeded the watts, but I have sometimes used CFLs. One bulb still works, but the other doesn't. The wires to both bulbs are blackened and crispy. One wall switch controls this fixture and a ceiling fan with light kit (no problems) in the same room.

I don't mind replacing the fixture, but could this be a safety hazard? When I've replaced bulbs in the past, I've noticed some charring, so we never leave the house with this light on. However, this fixture is usually on while we're home and awake.

The fixture installed 10 years ago was inexpensive, so maybe it's just worn out. I'm just concerned that maybe the wiring to this fixture generates too much heat. Should I be worried?
