For the LR? I think the red toile is a touch too bright for your room.. the reds you have now are deeper and richer. Also, I prefer the lines of the two chairs you already have.

I'm thinking the guest room, yes. :) I already have a chair that's very similar to this, but it desperately needs reupholstering--and I would pay more for that than for this chair. I don't know.

That's a cutie, but it looks like a fairly new chair. I have found that the finish on the new repros is not particularly good, even from good furniture makers. I think the cost of refinishing the older chair you already have will give you a better chair in the long run.

P.S. But I think this chair would actually be too large for that room. And I do love my own antique chair, so I think I'll just reupholster it. Plus, the chair--I just realized--is a long way from me--so it would be crazy to go to the trouble to get it, when I already have a lovely little chair for that room.

I think the chair is beautiful, but I'm not a fan of that high back style. It definitely looks like it's worth what they are asking for it, no doubt about it.

Never, never, never ask this GWer about something toile. You know I would fill my house with it if I had to pole vault to get around it, just because I love it.

I don't care for the shape of the back - it doesn't look like a comfortable, welcoming chair at all; not like the other things in your home.

Les, I noticed the wheels also but I noticed in some of the estates I have been in (as a tourist or a guest), there are quaint French chairs with legs. I assumed it was for a time that Josephine could just roll from one project to the next ;-)

I'm not in love with the chair in question but could you ask them if they would be interested in selling their DR chairs and ship them over to me, please? :)

I emailed him and told him it would cost me too much to transport it. He offered to deliver it to me if I reimbursed for the cost of gas. Very nice of him, I think.

OSH, you're cracking me up. I opened the post determined to tell you that you're obsessed... then saw the chair, and now I think (as I've thought before) you're a smart cookie. And delivery, too! How could you pass it up?

Imagine that in your office, with a red lumbar pillow, contrasting/complementing that new, fabulous rug. Too much? Or just right, in a very slightly over-the-top kind of way?
