I'd vote to replace that light fixture asap, too. A larger rug would cover a lot of that flooring, too.

I'm thinking either blue-- like BM Beach Glass or Quiet Moments, or a dark taupe or chocolate color. With the blue, I would paint the vanity dark brown. If you did a darker color, I'd leave it white.

The changes you mentioned will help a lot, and so will some rugs. Definitely change the light fixtures if you can.

Aw, it's not so bad. I'd stay away from blue, though, and use an off-white for the walls and curtains, with color in the accessories. Also, maybe the old brick-in-the-toilet tank might buy you some time on the toilet, until you do the full remodel. A white toilet is going to be a big sore thumb in that room.

One lucky thing ... the light fixtures are side-mounted where they should be. Builders who slap them over the top of the mirror should become permanent members of the hall of shame.

I would stay away from blue, as it will only make the counter and sink feel more orange. I would go with a warm moss green, not too dark.

Then make shower curtain panels from something like one of these fabrics, and as you said, hang them high and make them come to just an inch or so off the floor. Use two shower curtain liners behind the panels, one each side.

Change out the cabinet hardware to a nickel or chrome. I would change out the sidelights to sconces.

The bamboo blind would be a nice choice, or go with white wood blinds to compliment the white cabinet.

I don't really trust my monitor for colors but I would paint the vanity cabinet a color that matches the sink and for the walls I would pick something lighter (I actually don't mind the existing color but it's clashing with the baseboards, which I assume are tile, not wood). Don't forget to paint the return air vent while you're at it.
Like the idea of wovens at the window and definitely a new shower curtain is in order. Lights are so cheap now that I would get a nice pair of sconces to replace the lights, even as a temporary update. I would get rid of the rug - it's fighting with the floor. Opt for a towel shower mat that can hang over the tub when not in use. A large contemporary print on the wall over the toilet would add some interest.

Can you paint the cabinets an espresso brown? Putting on a granite look laminate top with a white sink might be very affordable. Also paint walls a tan / neutral taupe color and the baseboard white. Maybe sconces in place of the light fixture. Frame the mirror to match the newly painted dark brown cabinets. Then add color with art on the walls. Towels may be white or colors that match the art.

1) Change the toilet

2) Change the hardware on the cabinet to silver. Look for square-shaped knobs in silver.

3) Change the lighting.

4) Paint the whole room in fresh white.

5) Add dark brown shower curtain/s and towels. Consider switching the shower rod to one of those new curved ones in silver to allow more room in shower.

6) Hang dark bamboo blind on window

7) Hang artwork/s over new toilet and/or add white shelves and sit sepia-toned family photos (mat in creamy-white and frame alike in dark brown) on the them.

8) Add Contemporary tall buffet-style/type lamp to corner of vanity with dark shade.

9) Sit new lamp on dark-woven tray

10. Add silver accessories

For under $100, you can get a white self-rimming lavatory to replace the brown sink. Then paint the countertop to mimic granite. See this example, below.

Interesting problem. One thing that makes it so "peachy" is the high contrast white.

QUICK FIX: Paint the walls and cabinet a pale cream or tan taken from the floor tiles, add a cream shower curtain and you should feel less like you are walking into an apricot smoothie.

I appreciate all the feedback. I like the idea of working with the sink and toilet color for now, esp. if I faux paint the counter and cabinet, and tone down the peachy contrast. Definitely will be getting something to replace the lighting, and a neutral rug. I'm still thinking quickest fix, but I feel like I have some direction to explore. Thanks again, and I'll repost when I have made some progress!

It's not often mentioned on this forum, but a box or two of stick down tile would change your floor to a color you could live with until you had time to do a new floor, maybe of real tile. My DIL recently used some in her upstairs bath, and even grouted it. You absolutely cannot tell it's not real tile.

You can put it down right over the existing floor, it's easy to cut, and in my part of the country can be had for about $1.00 a square foot. A little more expensive in it, and it's the look of real tile for 1/2 the effort.

Your new bathroom is clean and in great condition. I see nothing broken or peeling, and I think it is actually very nice and totally fine until you can do your "dream" renovation. I am sure with your new home you have all kinds of ideas floating around in your head - money can only stretch so far so why fix something that really isn't broken?!
