Water spots on glass shower door - the worst EVER!
Comments (12)Krissie is spot on. I posted this solution elsewhere. Bar Keepers Friend. I copied/pasted my original response below. I'd say good luck, but you won't need it... +++++++++++ I've tried everything over the years. Never had much luck with vinegar, fabric sheets, oven cleaner, and all the other suggestions. They kind of work, but not to my satisfaction. Plus, many are toxic. That's not how I'm going to go out. Then I happened upon a random posting online where a guy methodically tested all these different solutions in a controlled environment -- side by side in his shower. See URL below. Without a doubt, BARKEEPERS FRIEND is your solution. I've used it for several years since and it works wonders. My wife uses it to clean our kitchen sink and other surfaces. It's cheap and available everywhere. It doesn't scratch. Leaves no film. And isn't toxic like all those products that need "good ventilation." It's got oxilic acide or something like that. No scrubbing. Apply liquid or power (with water) with a sponge, do 3-4 circles, and wipe off. No sweat and instant gratification. A little car wax after cleaning and you're all set. Trust me. You can thank me later by verifying my suggestion... http://www.themanlyhousekeeper.com/2011/03/11/solved-soap-scum-and-hard-water-stains/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Keepers_Friend http://www.barkeepersfriend.com/...See MoreMy expensive new bathroom is ugly
Comments (65)I like your choices, too. I would continue searching for the right light neutral color, myself. I'm also not sold on blue in there... It does take time to get the right color! My usual procedure: 1) bring home about 10 different swatches from the store. Hold them up in the room in various places, sometimes right on the wall, sometimes holding it out at arms length so it's "bigger" in your field of vision. Narrow your swatches down to say 5 or 6 that look OK. 2) Look at them at different times of day, different weather, different locations in the room. Next to whatever different materials they will abut IRL. 3) Narrow it down to a handful. Buy testers of those colors or whatever the smallest amount you can buy is. Paint ~2'x2' blocks on various walls (or paint pieces of poster board that you can move around) and again, look at them in different light situations....See MoreGrohe Thermostatic Shower Valve
Comments (4)This is interesting. We've been showing with our valve about4 months. Both of us commented its not as warm but thought we were crazy. We had the tile guy over to work on a spot in the shower so we've been showering in the other bathroom. Its amazing how hot that water is. So I guess we need to have ours adjusted also, we just thought it was us....See MoreIncredibly bad designed Grohe kitchen faucet. Help!
Comments (15)Just a few comments on Grohe Customer Service, if that is what you want to call it! I purchased a Brand New Kitchen display in 2009. Included in the Kitchen was a Grohe Bridgeport Bridge Faucet in Antique Bronze. Their MSRP on this faucet is $1826.00 !!! Quite a Hefty price tag for a Kitchen Faucet, it should actually wash your dishes for you! Anyway, this morning the spout protruding from the vertical column snapped off at the threads. I extracted the broken nipple (this piece is threaded in) and ran down to the local Plumbing Supply and Service Business to see if they could just rethread the end of the spout so I could screw it back in and be on my Merry Way, THEY LAUGHED!!! The thread was nothing they had ever seen before. They told me to call Grohe Customer Service and see if I could obtain a replacement. After waiting 20 minutes on hold a male Customer Service Rep answered. I explained my situation to him, he asked if I had the original receipt? To this I replied no, I did not have the receipt because it was in a package deal on the new kitchen I bought. Guess what? To Bad! No receipt, no warranty, no part! I guess "Lifetime" warranty should actually be CONDITIONAL LIFETIME WARRANTY, If we feel like it! I Hung up! After thinking about it for a bit I decided I gave up way to easy and called back. This time a young woman answered, after the usual 20 minute wait. I again explained the situation hoping to find a more amenable ear. NOT SO! She was Snappy and short with me. I was told the model was discontinued last year and this part was no longer available and her online search revealed not a one to be had. She did however provide me with the name and contact info for a local business that could probably fix me up with what I needed. So let me see if I got this straight. A World Class Company that praises themselves on the HIGH QUALITY of their fixtures and their "Lifetime" Warranty discontinues an $1800 fixture and fails to ensure they have an adequate inventory of replacement parts for said product, Employs "Customer Service" Reps with Bad Attitudes and steers their customers that bought their product believing they had a "Lifetime Warranty" to a local fabrication shop to cover their asses? Whiskey tango Foxtrot! Does anyone other than myself see a problem with this?...See Morepatricianat
