Let Me Introduce Myself

Just yesterday I discovered this forum. What a blessing to find others who understand!

I have four stepsons from DH's two previous marriages - 36, 33, 15, and 12. Thankfully, we get along very well. Our main problems are the 33 yr. old and the two youngest's bio mom. I've posted a bit about them in response to others and when I am not at my desk at work will pipe in more. ;-)

Thank you all for your kind words! I will pass them onto Jack the creator. Jack K. kindly gives each named lady in the Aussie Beauty series the first available pup. I don't know how long before she will be commercially available in Australia, let alone globally. I suspect my namesake vriesea will keep her good looks perpetuated longer than my own! Thank you, Sorie! Just think, this time tomorrow I'll be on my way to being able to eat a thick slice of Cherokee Purple without fear! Crazy, right? It's a little after nine this evening in my little slice of Heaven. IT'S RAINING! Just in time to water all the garlic, seedless blackberry, Echinacea, bee balm, Orange Daylillies, iris, comfrey, paperwhites, ornamental peppers and lambs ear along with freshly sown seeds of Caserta Zuch, yellow straigtneck, dark star zuch, radishes of French Breakfast and Cherry Bell along with a vast assortment of lettuce and spinach in my "greens" table! Still have to plant a few maters, peppers and cardinal vine but they're watered and tucked under the back patio cover until I can get to them next weekend (I'm being quite the Optimist, huh?), As long as you guys keep leaving all these wonderful leftovers, we'll be hard-pressed to find a reason to quit hosting! (I'm also the lucky one that got the leftover Turkey Pastrami from okoutdoorsman!) Oh wait.....that's part of the enabling. Sheesh....I thought I'd been here long enough to be immune..... Paula

It is very nice to meet you, I am AR_Dramaqueen, Don_na_na's daughter. I haven't been in here in a while. It is very nice to have more ppl in here though, people don't visit as often as they used to.

Hi, Virginia. Dealing with biomoms can be extremely frustrating. Looking back at my stepmothering experience, I think it would have gone a lot smoother -- and been a *whole* lot better for my stepdaughter -- had biomom been willing to have a friendly relationship with my husband and I. But it seems almost human nature that we shouldn't get along.

When the parental figures are in conflict, there's just too much room for the kids to play them against each other. My stepdaughter's biomom wrote us a long letter -- a couple weeks *after* the kid have moved out. Duh! Great time to pick to discuss our parenting techniques!

Anyway, I've enjoyed having this place to blow off some steam and wipe a few tears. I hope you'll feel free to let your hair down. There are a lot of caring people on this forum and a lot of collective perspective on the good, the bad and the ugly of step-parenting.
