Let Me Introduce Myself

Just yesterday I discovered this forum. What a blessing to find others who understand!

I have four stepsons from DH's two previous marriages - 36, 33, 15, and 12. Thankfully, we get along very well. Our main problems are the 33 yr. old and the two youngest's bio mom. I've posted a bit about them in response to others and when I am not at my desk at work will pipe in more. ;-)

Thank you all for your kind words! I will pass them onto Jack the creator. Jack K. kindly gives each named lady in the Aussie Beauty series the first available pup. I don't know how long before she will be commercially available in Australia, let alone globally. I suspect my namesake vriesea will keep her good looks perpetuated longer than my own! Hi Amy, Due to limited space and an exceptionaly large wishlist ( way, way too many pretty ones out there) I am a double fan of everything also. I wish I had DL beds big enough to buy multiple fans of everything! Thats almost like instant gratification! Don't have to wait long to see lots of the flowers you really like when ya buy a lot of them! Its all personal preferance, but if you start hanging out with us on the GW, you will need more flower beds cause you will be discovering some amazing DL's you just can't live with out! Oh-Boy your in trouble now! I could not be satisfied with just a couple favorites, there's too many pretties out there to be had! Enjoy your new DL's hope they are a wonderful addition to your home.

Welcome, I am lurker too, have been for a long time. I also love christmas decorating. I like to decorate with Santa's, Snowmen, gingerbreadmen. I like all the bright cheerful colors of christmas. I also like to shop at goodwill and thrift stores, yard sales. I like the look of handmade/homemade christmas tree. All the ladies here are so talented and come up with the greatest ideas on holiday decorating.

Hi Denise and Kim, Thanks for helping me feel welcome. I've been lurking here a while so while I'm new to you, I feel like I know you already. :-) I guess sooner or later I'm not going to be home to cover them up if it rains and I've been watering them all spring with rain water exclusively. I catch it in buckets and keep it inside for the Hoyas. My growing mix is pretty chunky too. I use Better-Gro special orchid mix with cactus soil, perlite and crunched up hydrotone balls. It drains quickly for me. If I get a new plant from a good grower I leave it in whatever they've sent me if it looks right to me. When I got home tonight and there was a note from the post office inside my door saying there's a parcel waiting for me. The only thing I'm expecting is my order from Epiphytica. I hope that's what is waiting for me!

It is very nice to meet you, I am AR_Dramaqueen, Don_na_na's daughter. I haven't been in here in a while. It is very nice to have more ppl in here though, people don't visit as often as they used to.

Hi, Virginia. Dealing with biomoms can be extremely frustrating. Looking back at my stepmothering experience, I think it would have gone a lot smoother -- and been a *whole* lot better for my stepdaughter -- had biomom been willing to have a friendly relationship with my husband and I. But it seems almost human nature that we shouldn't get along.

When the parental figures are in conflict, there's just too much room for the kids to play them against each other. My stepdaughter's biomom wrote us a long letter -- a couple weeks *after* the kid have moved out. Duh! Great time to pick to discuss our parenting techniques!

Anyway, I've enjoyed having this place to blow off some steam and wipe a few tears. I hope you'll feel free to let your hair down. There are a lot of caring people on this forum and a lot of collective perspective on the good, the bad and the ugly of step-parenting.
