BM Revere Pewter - darker accent match?

I'm just not in love with my 3 yr old BM Shaker Beige walls - they really take on a fleshy/pink tone during the day. I have a southeastern exposure w/ a fair amount of windows...

I've been gathering up gray/greige paint chips and really like BM Revere Pewter but also want to do a darker accent wall. So far have it narrowed it down to BM Kingsport Gray as well as BM Stardust (strip also includes BM Silver Fox). I actually REALLY like BM Stardust for the accent :)

I have BM Alexandria Beige in my master bedroom and love it, but want something a little different for the L.R.

Please help, I'm lost :)

You know, if you work with Aura colors, the initial PR on them was that they share a particular tone (iirc it's something about the kind of colorant, but someone like funcolors would know more about that) which coordinates them such that they'll all work with each other, supposedly. The game was to pick any three colors from the deck and you'd be able to make a look with them. That's why they were called "Affinity" colors.

You might want to look for tones you like in that set of colors and know that they're 'scientifically' designed to be able to play well together. Hope this maybe helps you become less dazed and confused...

My master bedroom is Kingsport gray and I think it will be too brown. I would look at something grayer Like Chelsea gray. Revere pewter has a green undertone as does Chelsea gray.

I'm not familiar with stardust-is it grayer than Kingsport gray.

I'm seconding the chelsea gray. i've got revere walls and want to paint my lower cabinets dark gray. I picked up the sample and put it next to my walls. Eureka. It works just great. The link shows the colors next to each other. I think they complement each other perfectly. Good luck.

Patty cakes, Do you think that med. grey small lumbar pillows on the leather chairs would get 'lost'? I saw 2 on sale at JCP yesterday and almost got them but then thought that they might be too dark. IKEA has some nice charcoal throws but I really think that I'd like to try my hand at sewing a few. I get what you mean about not adding a 'color' to the rm. and I agree. I have checked out grey curtains but I have this weird fanatical thing about all of my curtains matching if they can be seen from another rm.! Will check out Parma's sexy rm! Jacy - That's exactly how RP looks w/ my white trim! I have a sickness you know. A paint sickness. I admit that I have a sample of PD. In my house it got a bit too purpley for me. There's an excellent episode of Find Your Style where they did a rm. in Hot Spring Stones (1 up from PD) and the accent wall PD. The accent colors were Silver Sage. It was beautiful! I saved that episode for a very longtime. There was also a woman who used to post here who did her bedroom exactly the way your thinking. Her sign on was Girlwithaspirin. Maybe you can do a google search and a pic will come up somewhere. Caroleoh - Yep - that's the rm. that was BT! It's such a small room that there are only so many angles that I can get pics of. I highly recommend BT!!!! Truly if I'd hadn't begun painting the rest of my downstairs such neutral but rich colors I would never have parted ways w/ BT but I just felt that it wasn't working w/ the whole overall concept that I was going w/ and that I really, really like alot. I can't wait to post finished pics of the downstairs. And I mean finished pics! 3 more pairs of curtains to buy (3 more to glue pom-poms on too), get DH to hang the DR chandelier - and maybe, just maybe, if my decorating piggy bank has enough money - get my big black and white print for the hallway.

Paint colors should be chosen in the context of other elements in your room such as carpet, rug, tile floors, the headboard, bedding, decor and other furniture. Revere pewter is a green gray. It wouldn't be the best choice if your carpet or bed is pink beige, for example, a pink beige like Muslin would be. Also, have you considered wallpaper for the accent wall? I have seen some very nice bedrooms with some wallpaper as an accent. I think the one wall as a different paint color would be somewhat dated, if you care about that at all.

We painted our bedroom storm and it is a DARK purple gray. Wouldn't recommend. But the rest of our house is the remaining colors on that pallette: Stormy Monday, Cement, and American White (which we darkened 30%). I love all of them. They look clean but still welcoming. Our house is primarily West facing and they do have purple and blue undertones depending on the time of day. I think the undertones help give the room a bit more life than a muddy grey would.

I've had Revere Pewter in my LR (noticing all of my LR posts today you can see how sad I am!) and there was no green undertone for me. Beautiful color. I was also going to suggest a grey from BM that I painted some chairs w/ and just love, love, love! But I can't remember the exact name & I can't find my paint decks! It's either Cheslea Gray as mentione by other's or if there is a BM HC color that is Ashley Gray it might be that. If there is no Ashley Gray then it is def. the Chelsea Gray. I swear i'm not totally lost - just a little :)

The chelsea gray would make a great accent color. Kimiko, your link makes me want to paint my lower cabinets as I also have the revere pewter on the entry and kitchen walls.

I'm just so discouraged with my living room (both color and layout - but that's another post, LOL). We're in year 4 of a DIY build (smallish ranch) and TIRED, but we are edging closer to the trim work stage :)

PPS - Stardust is on the same strip as Silver Fox. It's more gray than kingsport gray.

Kimiko - thanks, I'll check out the Chelsea Gray.

TTodd - there IS an Ashley Gray color - it's on the same strip as Kingsport Gray, and it looks really nice :)
