Funny, I thought of you when I saw a few poster beds very similar to Bonniee's on CL today. There was one in Baltimore and a handful in this area as well. Some are a week or more old-- but I bet if you make a few calls and put on your best negotiating hat, you could have a bed you love sooner than Christmas!

Shee, this may help you visualize at least a little bit. Here are some pics of my old master with a four poster and red/burgundy color bedding. Most importantly, we used a variet of most of the colors on the SW mannered gold strip for the walls. Some were layered with two or three colors. Very pretty bedding by the way.

I also did mannered gold in my GR and open areas if you need to see it.

How sweet of Nanny2a to send you her bedding that she's no longer using. And even more signifigant that she made! It's beautiful. I think it will look perfect in your room with mannered gold paint.

Are your curtains metalic by the way? They look very similar to the ones we have in our master. Though not near as shiney as they look in the photo below, the flash got them, they look more like yours does in your photos above.

I actually bought them to use just their fabric along with other fabric I have to make both WTs and bedding for our master. They'll hang there until I get time to sew for that room. Too many other windows ahead of it.

They weren't in today-- say, mid July? Try "Cherry Bed". The prettiest was in Baltimore but that's a longer ride for you. Really though, my point is, a bed could be out there tomorrow.. paint and a bed and you will have a gorgeous room!

Gosh that's an aweful picture of our WTs. Thought I should add that it's a temp fix and I know it looks awful together now, but once I get to that room the rods will be painted to fit "the look" and the fabric from these gold panels will be used along with other dressy fabrics to make this all look fabulous!

Sheesharee - I'm so glad that you like the bedding, and just as important, that Mr. Mossimo likes it, too!! Seeing the red spread against the Mannered Gold swatch brings it to life, and I think you'd be happy with that color, it looks like a perfect fit! I might just have to make you some pretty gold pillows, something like Boniee's, with a deep red fringe, to dress up the bed even more!

Shee, thanks so much for the compliment, I really miss that old master because it was so much bigger than the one we have now. We hired painters and we did combinations of MG, RG and Chamois in my old room. I was trying for an aged look so we alternated the colors. In the bath shown above it was MG and RG and in the photo with the slipcovered sofa, that is MG without any of the other colors. The wall behind the bed had the combo of all three. Sorry for the confusion, I must have had a senior moment. The painters did a base of mannered gold for both rooms and then hand rubbed the other colors on very lightly with a rag. I played around with it with the painter to get just the right mix, but then let them take over because it was very tedious.

Now looking at my notes, I misspoke, we used RG in the greatroom and the other open areas.

Justgotabeme - My curtains are a taffeta with a pretty thick white lining on the inside. I got them at BB&B. I'm wondering once I get the paint on the walls what they're going to look like! Probably bleck! I like your curtains! I didn't realize how short mine looked until I saw pics. Apparently I'm more of a puddle person.

Deborahnj - Ah I thought you had RG on your walls. I have that one picture previously saved. I was thinking then maybe it was your old house since you said you had the mannered. I bet that was tedious for them to get the colors right. Probably not good if you're a perfectionist either. I've come to the conclusions that gold paint is my favorite.

Shee, you were absolutely right, mannered gold in the old house and RG in the new one! The painting technique was really quite easy. I played around with one wall using different combinations to get the right look and once we settled on that, we labeled the mix on the wall and then used the recipe where I wanted wall wise if that makes sense. It wasn't hard but it was tedious and it definitely helped to label and write everything down.

So for example if one section was to be MG and RG, we played around with the technique, got the recipe right and then labeled and marked the walls for that recipe. Then so on and so on.

Based on your previous posts if you wanted something like that, you could do it since you like to paint.

FYI, we did the same thing in the bathroom recently painted. Got the base coat on first and then lightly added the second color until we found a recipe we liked. So some areas had more of a light wash and others had less. The whole time in both instances, we kept the rag moving in a circular motion and added paint lightly and then built up as needed.

Gosh I hope this all makes sense!

My panels actually look better in person. You don't see the "glow" at all like you do in the pictures. I hope your curtains don't look bleck when you find the right paint. It's so hard getting everything to work when you want color on your walls, but I so love colored walls it's all worth it in the end.
