I think a very pale mint green is a great idea. That bed looks very "ballerina"-ish to me.

I've become fairy-fabric obsessed! The third one down, with the pink and red bubbles, is driving me to distraction. I'm a 53-year old woman and *I* want a duvet made from that!

LOL! Well, since "my" shower has a glass door, it would have to go in DH's bathroom. I was JUST about to say that he wouldn't go for that -- then I remembered the Tracy Porter bedding he's purchased. ;-)

Sigh, utterly dreamy.... So jealous you get to do a little girl's room! I am in the middle of finishing my 13 yo dd's "teen room." So.Not.As.Fun! :) I love Lilly (if that is what that first fabric is, if it isn't it sure looks like it, regardless) and think that fabric folded would keep the room from being "too" sweet and add a bit of punch. I adore the beds, and adore the bedding, and agree that the beds not be white like the trim. Absolutely can't wait to see this all finished!

auntjen- Pretty please with sugar, where is the first fairy fabric found? My 5 yo DGD will fight your DH for it!

theclose, is that bookcase, btw, attached to the wall so that your baby can't pull it over on top of her self when she starts pulling herself up?

Pretty beds! I like the first two fabrics you posted. The third reminds me of an old granny shirt or something. I'm just not feelin it! I also really like, and personally prefer, the ones Jlc posted for the room.

Do keep the beds a creamy white so they will last throughout all her growing up years and you won't have to redo them. Agree the duvets should be softer colors to go with the rest of the room. Love those beds!

Thank you all so much!! What great suggestions and comments. A little bit about me and the room occupant. I definitely like a more sophisticated room, but I do veer to bold colors throughout my home. I am not a muted color fan, nor autumnal colors (no burgundies/rusts for me). My daughter will be 3 in December, so luckily I have complete autonomy when it comes to decorating her room. : ) My original intention was to get the coordinating duvets to the coverlet/sham, which is also white with a scallop trim, but I think that would be too staid for right now.

@lisad, I love toile and I can definitely see how it would "go" in this room, but I have toile several other places in our house and would like something a little more unexpected.

@auntjen, fairies are fun! Just not my style. Although I do love that third one with the red/pink bubbles.

@bossy, would love more than 1 set but since I have two beds to complete, the budget just doesn't allow for it right now. Definitely something to consider in the future.

@jlc, thank you! I did consider a color for the beds, but I want them to last until, well, forever! So I feel I am better off doing fun bedding and sticking with off white beds. Appreciate the bedding links. I don't like the first one but I do like the second, although I don't love it. They're both a little too cutesy to me, but I appreciate they would look nice in the room!

@nini and nosoccer, the Lilly one is my fave too. I really like the pattern, the little tigers in the print and the colors. I know it is bold, but it will be folded on the end of the bed, and then used at night in colder weather so it won't so dominant.

@tib, I LOVE pink damask!! Thank you so much! I searched some images and I think it might be perfect. The shelves aren't currently bolted but they will be once she is out of her crib. We will need to rearrange the room then. Appreciate your concern. : )

I was also thinking a pink/green plaid of some sort. But I would like to find something ready made. Custom is just too much at this point, unless I find fab sheets and have the duvets made from them - that's affordable. I am going to keep these in mind and keep searching. I have some time to find the right print.

another vote for the Lily print - and monogramming the shams in pink to match the scallop. (I'm Southern. To quote Reese Witherspoon, "If it's not moving, monogram it!")

@bbstx, I am way ahead of you! Shams going off to the monogrammer this week! I am still wavering between an applique monogram (a la Leontine Linens) or just standard (leaning towards standard in a curly script of some sort). I was also contemplating monogramming the coverlet too but I think I am just going do the shams.

While I like the appliqued monograms, I think for your daughter's age, I'd go for the standard satin stitch monogram. Before you decide on a style, look at your daughter's initials in the chosen font. I had a necklace made for my niece using a very tailored circular monogram. Her initials are MMD. When put in the correct order for a circle, they are MDM. If one quickly glanced at the tailored monogram, it looked like MOM. Some jerk at her school said, "why are you wearing a necklace that says MOM?" That, of course, was the end of her ever wearing the necklace!

When I have things monogrammed, the woman who does it, texts me a sample using the chosen font. It is generally computer generated, not stitched, but it is sufficient for me to know if I like it or not. (I generally prefer an interlocking script.)

Agreed and thank you! Her first name begins with M and in some fonts, the curl of the M is cut off on the left side. I have been burned on monogram fonts before (my son's name begins with J and that looks awful in Master Circle). I will definitely have her send me the sample.

Ok. What about these fabrics for the duvet? All Liberty of London. On the reverse would be a pink or green gingham (I am partial to green because I love green but I could go either way).

Of the Liberty prints, I like the first one best.

I do like that first LOL fabric, but still like the Lilly better. Again, it is just bolder and has more punch (plus TIGERS! :) )

I would use either a creamy white or pale gray, with just a slight glaze to bring out the beautiful details on the bed.

This is what I did with my 12 year old DD's antique iron bed, which is white and antiqued with a lightly chipped and glazed finish. It looks very pretty with her bright white sheets and dust ruffle and worked out well with her original cream walls, which are now pale pink (soon to be Palladian Blue!).

The bed has grown with her since she was 4. It's now accented with bright turquoise pillows, a black and white PB Teen zebra print sham and duvet, and a soft turquoise throw folded at the foot, which all replaced the sweet blush colored duvet and pillows she had when she was younger :) Still looks very pretty and girly.

Thanks, juddgirl! Definitely doing the creamy white (BM Pink Damask was suggested up thread and looks perfect). I like the glaze idea- I had thought of gold accents in the florettes. I love Palladian Blue! Good luck with the change. So glad the bed is still perfect. Our beds belonged to my sister's friend. She was going to trash them - they had belonged to her daughter over 50 years ago. She purchased them at an antique store in NYC. Of course it would be easier to buy new but I just love these beds.

I prefer the Lily to the others. It will give the room the pop it needs and keep the room from looking too sweet. I think you're on the right track with the creamy off white for the beds. Trust your own judgement. It's obviously good.

Ok. I have one more fabric to show you. I think it might be the winner, although I still love the tiger! Liberty of London with a green gingham on the reverse. Really, I am going to stop looking or I will drive myself insane. This will be pricier than the Lilly tiger but I like that it will be reversible and I just love the colors.

Nini, I do love the tiger but I might like this a tad more. The Lilly duvets are ready made, so no putting gingham on reverse. As for asking my 2yo her opinion, while that might be fun I don't want to go down that road yet! I like being a monarch for now. : )

I like this new one too, although I did love the Lilly tigers! This will be very pretty with the green gingham on the reverse and very practical for a change-up too.

I totally hear you, Theclose! As the mom of young teens, I so miss my days of complete design control. Enjoy it while you got it...and that print with the gingham will be fab! Custom always looks nicer, anyway.

Small and unfortunate update - the last Liberty fabric that I love and wanted to use was a limited run and discontinued. Sold out! So, will probably go with Lilly tiger. I think it will look great. Thanks for all your help! Will be sure and update.

Cath Kidston has a lot of beautiful and timeless floral prints with pinks in a huge range of colors. Google her name in images and see what comes up.

patty, agree that bright fabrics aren't for everyone! They will be an unexpected touch of sorts, but I am not a pastel person, or fairy. I know, this is for my daughter, but I've decided for now she's not that either! : )

kswl, totally forgot about Cath Kidston!! Thank you. I just went to her site. I like the birds and roses, as well as a couple of others. I was in my shabby chic/french country phase when I got my first apartment umpteen years ago and haven't looked back. This kind of reminds me of it so not sure I can pull the trigger. I love florals, but more chintz-like florals. Anyway, thank you so much for the option!

Holly, the first fabric I posted in the original post is a Lilly Pulitzer fabric. There are small hot pink tigers on it, resting on a lily. Hard to see!
