Dana - will you be resented in the future?

That is a good question, one that I am wrestling with. You know my situation with my 17 yo SS. He is now back home with us, and things seem to be going well (knock on wood and cross my fingers).

You may remember the situation under which he left our home almost a year ago (he didn't like me or my stupid rules and wanted dad to choose between the two of us). Subsequent to moving in with his BioMom, he got further caught up in alcohol and drugs, and ended up first in a psychiatric hospital and then residential rehab for the last 6 months. He expressed his desire to come home and live with dad's family, including wicked stepmom (my words, not his). DH told me that as much as he wanted son to come back to our home, I would have to want it, as well. If I didn't, son would have to live with BioMom. It would have been so much easier for me to say, "I don't need the stress, the aggrevation, the tension, the frustration, the whole mess, back in my home." I think DH would have understood, and he has been very firm with son about the rules and consequences, and that any poor behavior would create an untenable situation for our family. However, I do love my SS, even if he can behave like an idiot sometimes, and I knew the best thing for him would be to come home to our home, not BioMom's. But I also wonder if a part of me was thinking that DH would feel some resentment, somewhere, sometime, if I had said, "no."

And for all the biomoms that will jump on a stepmom for saying a stepchild can behave like an idiot sometimes, my dear BIOLOGICAL daughter is really getting on my nerves this weekend for behaving like an idiot.
