detached garage wiring

our detached garage (about 100' from house) has 2 ccts going out to it. they are buried with conduits where it enters and exits the ground. at one point, someone cut them where they come into the house. i would like to reconnect them, but before i do what are the restrictions about having power there? as far as i know, the 2 cables are 14-2 uf-b. 1 cct has about a dozen lights and the other has 6 outlets. i plan to use the garage for working on the cars and some light wood working. i will use things like a small table saw, mitre saw, bench grinder, small air compressor, etc. will 14-2 be enough for these tasks?

can i just reconnect to the main panel and not have to get an inspection or any of that? anything else i should be aware of?
