Need some help planning frame for replacement window

Am replacing some windows in a 1920's three story brick building in the Boston area. Two of the window frames have been extensively water damaged and need to be replaced. I can easily install the new window units into the other existing frames.

I'm contemplating removing everything back to the brick, and routing a composite material to make a 1" frame for the new window units to match surrounding window frames.

How difficult will it be to secure the new frame to the masonry wall? I have no idea how a masonry wall was built to accommodate the wooden window frame. What's typical?

FWIW, I will be using "Harvey Classic" replacement windows.
