lyban- That's right, you do need to download and install the plugin. If you did that install correctly, you'll know it in the next steps: -outline the cropping rectangle -go into the Options menu and choose "JPG Lossless Crop" -if the plugin was installed correctly, a small window should come up which gives you the choice of a new file name, or the existing file name, for the crop, and shows you where it will be saved (take note of that location). Choose "new file name" and hit "Start." You won't see anything until you go to the Open file option at the top of the main Irfanview window, and select the file you just cropped (which will have the name "crop" in it). Then open it up in Irfanview and you can then print it the size you want from there. If you get confused by what to choose when the print window opens up, I can walk you through that, too. Lastly, it sounds like the Kodak program may not want to print below a certain quality, so if you want to try to print the second picture I cropped for you, print it using Irfanview. Before you print the picture, you can manipulate things like contrast, etc., in another program first; just save it when you're done and go back to Irfanview to print it so you can avoid your printing problem. Just bear in mind that you're taking a pretty small portion of a much bigger picture, so it won't be razor-sharp, but will look as good as it appears above. Stick with it, you're making progress. itsallaboutthefood, ahh . . . . that makes sense. I was surprised, but I didn't mind. I hadn't said anything on this site that I either hadn't already said to them or wouldn't have said to them. Important to realize though, that once things go out on the web, especially this site, it is there for all to see whether you want them to or not. When I go a google search on "magma supreme granite" images, a lot of the top pics that show up are of my kitchen! a2gemini, the ovens look exactly the same. As far as know, the only difference is that the lower oven is convection. And I do love the clock too. marti8a, I've no idea what they would have sold the other floor model for. I've no doubt that it would have been more than what I paid for mine. I do get that. And I do give credit to the store for working with me and doing their best to handle a bad situation. Truthfully, the whole thing would have been easier if communication had been better. Got started off on the wrong foot with the whole "pay for the parts yourself" decision as well as a couple of others. Very possible if it had been handled differently I would be doing the happy dance to have the newer ovens for an extra $480. But it wasn't and I'm not. Glad it is resolved but definitely am not doing the happy dance. So sorry to hear about your floors. How incredibly frustrating and upsetting! suzie2003, Thanks for the kind words. I don't do resolutions, but wanted to comment on the massage. You are so right in that it can be a necessity! I have had two times where I ended up in physical therapy - once lower back, once neck/shoulder area. PT really helped but was somewhat time consuming - several weeks of mutiple appointments. I noticed the massage really seemed to relax my muscles so earlier this year when I was again having an issue, I started massage. As long as I do that and exercises on my own - the issue is resolved. I get these incredibly tightened muscles/knots. Usually it is associated with my job and changing my work station or chair or position, etc. I've also become aware of my posture and work on not slumping or slouching when I'm sitting and really engrossed in a project. Besides helping with the knotted/tight muscles, the massage is so relaxing and you come out feeling like melted butter HA! I would think it will help greatly with stress. Enjoy!

My actual legal advice is to see an attorney. --------------------- I wanted to follow up with a few more details about your situation and some other assertions, both for you and other people faced with this same situation in the future. First, you must begin this process with the ending in mind. So before you start, you should know where you want to end up. This includes preferred solutions and acceptable solutions. Furthermore, you should understand that in disputes everything that happens up to the day you are in court is a dialogue, a rather rude one, but still a dialogue. All you are doing is trying to firmly impart to the other side the risk and costs of not acquiescing to your desires. The strongest signals come at a cost to you, which is hiring an attorney. However, there are other signals that can be very effective that cost little more than time or a stamp. Now... The stated desire needs to be to have the selected tile removed and reinstalled correctly as per manufacturer specifications. The contractor doesn't get to dictate the look a customer is going for in their kitchen, and any defect in the manufacture of the tile needs to be taken up with the manufacturer of that tile. Next... A stated secondary solution could include installation of an acceptable substitute tile that the tile setter is more experienced installing. That needs to clearly be a secondary solution, and for the convenience of the installer. Admitting that the tile is undesirable is different than the installation is bad, focus instead on the fact that the installation of the tile doesn't look like other acceptable installations (e.g. pictures). Unless, of course, that isn't true. This will make favorable resolution easier. However, even if the problem lies in the tile itself, all is not lost. Most states have an implied warranty of fitness of a specific purpose for installations such as this. If a contractor helped pick out the tile, knowing the purpose it was for they had a duty to ensure that the tile was acceptable for that purpose. The tile installer also has that same duty prior to installation, so even if the customer chooses a substandard tile, the installer would have to say that he doesn't believe this tile will be acceptable in this circumstance. These warranties exist for every tile installer in every situation in most states, and must be specifically disclaimed in order to indemnify the tile installer. The idea that a customer will automatically lose because they picked a bad tile is complete B.S. The installer has a duty to mitigate damages by warning of the probable outcome from installing "bad tiles". These are weaker cases than substandard work, but are an effective counter to the tile being the wrong choice defense. --------------------------------------------- In my letter to the contractor I would make all of the cases above in a simple factual manner (after stating the details of the work). I would specifically note in the letter that the contractor had the duty of "implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose" at tile selection and your tile installer had the same duty before installation (Google your state's wording on this), I would also note that the tile setter had, "a duty to perform the work in a workman like manner". I would then go on to discuss the mechanic's lien, by noting that I respect their right to file a mechanic's lien on the property but warn that I will be filing for dismissal of the lien after 90 days unless they file to enforce it, and that such a filing will render their arbitration clause void and I will immediately sue and ask that the mechanics lien be postponed until the resolution of my suit for damages. Furthermore, I will consider the filing of a mechanics lien to be an abandonment of negotiations for repair and will be forced to seek alternative resolution and just recompense. --------------------- The real goal of the above statements are to signal that I am a client that the contractor wants to settle with rather than get a lien and go to court. The message I want to send at this point is working with me will be easier than working against me. The above is an insight into my thought process. Please understand that deescalation might be better, or you might just wash your hands of the whole mess, pay the contractor and not deal with it.
