15A recepts on circuits protected by 20A breakers??
Comments (5)Thanks guys, I feel a lot better now about the electrician I hired. For a while there today I wasn't real sure if the job he did here was properly done, but now I am. This website has been a great help to me in the last couple of weeks now that I'm able to get back to working on my basement BR again. Where else will pros tell DIYers how to do stuff they get paid big bucks for doing?...See MoreBathroom 20A dedicated circuit
Comments (1)No need to do unusual routings of the NM cable. If you wish to run the cable first to the receptacle location, do not use the load terminals on the GFCI receptacle that feed and protect downstream loads. Supply the fan/lights from the cable that supplies the GFCI....See More20A GFCI on 15A circuit
Comments (6)I don't know that I can guess what reasoning the code board used for this reg, but I suspect they don't allow a 20a recept on a 15a circuit for the same reason they don't allow a 30a recept on one. The user can't plug in an appliance that requires that much current, because the circuit hasn't the capacity, so why suggest that he can? Now, if you are talking about a GFI that's rated 20a for passthrough and 15a for its own recept, that's a different matter. I don't see any problem with that....See MoreAmperage of gas range- 15A or 20A outlet?
Comments (7)petey, If it is "all gas" it can go on almost any circuit. The draw is minimal. My friend has a gas Kitchenaid range with an electric element in it for more even broiling and preheating the oven a bit faster. The element is 1500 watts. It's not "advertised" anywhere on the range and one wouldn't know it existed unless you stuck your head in the oven and looked. To the original poster, I'd bet Amana wants a 15-amp circuit, otherwise many ovens wouldn't work in retrofit applications. If you still have it, look in the installation manual (which might be different than the owner's manual)...See Morebrickeyee
