Here's the senario: Jane's parents divorced when she was two. Thirty years later Jane's mother Sue remarries. At this time, Jane has been married ten years and has two children of her own. She has an excellent relationship wth her father and stepmother of 29 years. Her husband has an excellent relationship with his parents.
Sue expects that her new husband is now grandfather to Jane's children. She tells the children to call him "Grandpa" -- and to call his sister "Aunt," his nieces and nephews "cousins."
If you would be willng, could you please tell me: 1) do you think marriage makes him the children's grandfather? 2) do you think Sue's assumpton is typical and reasonable?
