Pad for Rug on Hardwood Floor
Comments (8)I'm not sure what felt would do for you, other than to give you yet another material to slid out from under you. ;) I've used those cheap, non-stick pads Brickeye recommended, and they work great. They are so easy to cut to size and they have never failed me. They didn't stain any of my hardwood OR laminate floors either. However, when I was first putting them done, I did briefly worry that they MIGHT stain. Then, I realized I will always have a rug in those locations anyway. So while I don't want the floors to stain....if they do I guess I don't care because I'll never see it. I'd rather have one section a different color, than break my leg with a rug sliding out from under me. Before I put those pads down stepping on those small rugs inside the doors was like hitting ice!...See MoreHand woven oriental rugs and hardwood floors--pad recommendation
Comments (5)Thanks to both of you for the help. I've taken a look at the linked website for pads and will investigate further. And, I've been doing some research on pads for hand knotted carpets. Apparently using a pad of some sort will prolong the life of the carpet because the pad absorbs some of the shock/friction from people walking on the rug. Yet, I also know that where these rugs are made there really is no such thing as a rug pad. On Amazon I did find a pad that gets high reviews for use as a pad for hand made rugs that are placed on hardwood floors. Comments (5)The problem is we can't see what pad you are considering. I always suggest purchasing a pad that CLEARLY STATES "Safe for Hardwood Floors". If it doesn't SAY IT, then it doesn't MEAN it. If you have a link to the rug pad you want to use, please load it. We can have a look at the link to check for the wording "Safe for Hardwood Floors". If in doubt, visit www.rugpadusa.com They may be expensive but they are worth every penny when it comes to hardwood floor protection. Personally, I would not wish to use an indoor-outdoor rug over hardwood, but it is a personal choice and it has already been purchased. You now need to remedy the situation by finding the appropriate rug pad to protect the hardwood from the area rug. Suggestion: "Safe For Hardwood Floors" is the bare minimum you can use....See Morenon slip rug pad for hardwood floor
