Parent defined

1 a: one that begets or brings forth offspring b: a person who brings up and cares for another.

SO tired of SPs being told by BPs you aren't a parent unless you gave birth or donated your genetic material. In the same breath they claim that SPs should put the SC first. You want the SP to treat your child as their own, but have no say over what the SC do in their home?!

Okay, so I want you to pay a mortgage AND maintain a home for 18 years, but have no right to go inside or choose who lives in it or how it is decorated or if I put holes in the walls.MY name goes on the title. This means you get all the responsibility but no rights, simply because I OWN it.

This is all about jealousy and thinking of kids as property.

Now, after years of non-support, my EX pays CS + arrearages.

Does this suddenly give him say over how I raise my kids, or make him more of a parent, than my DH? NO, NO, NO! He's never done anything remotely like being a parent. Any and all visits were facilitated by me. If he knocked on my door and said he wanted to be a father now, I'd laugh. By the same token, I haven't been around my SC enough to warrant making decisions about how they live, at home or choices they make that effect them personally. That doesn't mean I can't set up rules and boundaries in my home. If I am responsible for what they do and what happens to them while they are in my home, then I can tell them what is inappropriate behavior. If their behavior endangers them, or me, or others, I have a right and a responsibilty to speak up! If my EX made an effort, and eventually had visitation, he could set rules in his house, and if my kids didn't like it, tough.

If his SO asked my kids to not beat the tar out of each other, break her furniture, egg neighbors houses, play with matches, hit her dog, swear like sailors,or make death threats against her kids, I sure as H3ll wouldn't call HER a b*tch, I'd ask my EX why he didn't discipline them, then I'd be sure to set them straight, because they should mind adults, within reason, and respect other people and their belongings! BPs jump on the "poor kids" bandwagon and defend the little brats, simply because they dislike the SP! You do your kids a disservice, because in the rest of the world, they can't use such bad behavior and still keep a job or an apartment, stay in school, or keep people from kicking their butt! Not liking someone isn't a good enough reason to act like a monster! Not getting your way all the time is no reason for hurting anyone, much less your BP, the new spouse or the other kids!

whew,feel a little better...
