I agree that a warm gray would be great and the 2 you are thinking about, also nice. I do know some who use the revere in hallways. My hall is pale oak which is a putty gray. its pale though, more than u might want, but I love it. I dont have the swatch here, but th3e color between stone harbor and calm might look nice. Looks fantastic. I think the edgecomb is going to look almost identical to your natural cream. Revere pewter is a great color but I think it ends up looking much lighter on the wall than it should. Someone posted pics of a darkened version of revere pewter It looks fantastic.

I did Pale Oak in the nursery so I want to do a different colour in the hallway. Hard to see here but the floors in our nursery are kind of a reddish brown prefinished maple floor. One day I'll get them refinished to match the hardwood in the rest of our house but for now I'm working with it. I've got the Benjamin Moore paint swatches - I'll check out the colour between Stone Harbour and Calm - thanks Oopsie!!

redroze - i saw a pic of your bathroom on another thread (gorgeous!) exactly the look i'm working on right now for our master bath. I was wondering what type of granite (or marble?) you used for the vanity and what flooring you have... is there a thread where this was already discussed??

I would go with a dark brown carpet with perhaps a secondary color in it like a taupe or gold. I say this because with those dark stair treads, like gray or any light carpet color for that matter will give off carpet fuzz/lint and it will show like crazy.

This staircase I loved in a house we were looking at buying.

But I still like this carpet on your stairs with the gold or taupe paint! :-)

Here are 2 pictures of revere pewter in our new house. I closely followed the thread on darkening it but decided to keep it as it was because I like how it looks different in each space depending on natural light.
I think it would look great with your dark stain.

Guest Bedroom in the Late Afternoon

We are leading parallel lives I think--(except the pregnancy thing, thank God, my youngest leaves for college this fall and the empty nest cruise starts in 70 days, but who's counting?)

I'm repainting the family room & kitchen. Yes, you read that right. The gray was just a little too green in the family room area and it has always bugged me. At lunch today, I went to BM and currently have 4 cans of gray sample paint in the car! We are also doing the living room and yes, the foyer.

I'm torn between the really dark charcoals and the grays with a hint of lavender. I'm painting poster boards when I get home. I wish I could remember the names...let's see, the gray lavender one is "hint of gray", the dark ones are "sweatshirt gray", "excalibur gray", and "misty memories" or "gray timber wolf" (I can't remember, I just know I picked 2 on the same strip to test).

Anyway, if you go with a light gray, I think you should consider going bold with the ceiling in foyer. I'm dying to do that. I think it would look really great.

When I look at the baby's nursery stuff, I think that the dark charcoal pillow might be a start for the foyer. Maybe it's too dark for you, but I think it would look great.

The RH slate paints are calling your name! Perhaps'Charcoal'?

Carole - I wasn't asking about a runner but your tips will actually be helpful for the runner we're doing in our entryway. Had no idea what colour to do there even though I knew darker would be best as shoe dirt shows horrifically on light colours. I didn't want something that blended too much with the hardwood, so doing brown with a touch of taupe might be what the doctor ordered. Gorgeous runner.

Crescent - Thanks, your RP looks great!! I'm down to Revere Pewter or Pashmina, which is from the BM Aura line.

Bee - Repainting? I love you (as much as an online buddy can) but why in the world would you do that??? I think the dark grey in your kitchen and family room are perfect. Not too green at all. At least on my computer monitor. Your instincts are right I'm sure...but if I were you I'd do a dark charcoal and NOT with a hint of lavendar which you may tire of. I want a deep, dark sexy look for the family room and living room, and a lighter but complimentary colour for the entryway. They're south facing so they'll be lighter. But given our ultra dark floors I don't want to go too dark on the walls.

Kcmg - Those RH paints look perfect!! I'll look into it if the Revere Pewter and Pashmina, or Natural Cream or Edgecomb Grey in the entry, don't work. I'm the type who likes to narrow focus and not entertain other options until I need to, cuz it keeps me up at night...and I already bought 4 paint samples so I'll post pics when we get the chance to paint them on the walls and y'all can help me decide. =)
