Me neither, Hazel. I didn't even come to this forum for a couple of days, thinking I'd have SOMETHING to read when I did (I usually check in several times a day) but there is still nothing. I would say this is a dead forum. I wonder how long Spike will keep it if it is inactive?

I was wondering the same thing.

But its also pretty slow at the auction posting board I hang out at also, so maybe it's just the season....

Green Chilli Variety in Cans?
Q
Comments (1)
Clean chile seeds are ok to send to Oz. They have to be CLEAN-no treated seeds or pod parts. HAVE to be labled by name and variety. Example-C.Chinense , Red Habanero or whatever. I sent over 1000 varieties to oz in 1 package. Only a couple were kept by customs. 1 was kept because of the seeds having a fungucide powder on them and 1 was only labled by it's common name(I didn't know what it was - chinense or ?) a couple were kept because they were dried, broken up pods or had too much dried pod in the packs. I think you are looking for Anaheim chiles. Specifically Ortega chile. A hybrid made by ortega to can... Ortega ANAHEIM TMR 23 used in the green stage. Send me an E Mail. Here is a link that might be useful: Don't buy from here!

Leveling uneven concrete floor as final surface
Q
Comments (2)
Once someone can help me identify a product, I have a few application questions: 1. Since I have several large dips in the flooring, should I do an initial layer to bring those up higher (basically just spot-filling) before doing a second final coat, so that the final coat doesn't have a widely varying depth? 2. Is there any way, either by putting something down in advance or grinding it out later, to put a series of grooves in the surface to help direct water to the sump well, similar to what you might see in a ? And finally, while I have no doubt that whatever basement waterproofing advice you have is excellent advice, please understand that's not what I'm asking here -- I am addressing those questions elsewhere, and we're doing all we can to redirect water away from the house. There's just not a lot of options when a lot of the water is coming UP, not over or down. Thanks!

do you like the way your hair looks when you leave the salon?
Q
Comments (36)
I love the salon that I've been going to since DH & I moved to the county we live in (over 20 yrs). The owner does my cuts, and I have had a few different stylists over the years that apply my color. I've found that the best thing you can do is to take pics of what you like, or want done to your hair (both color and/or haircut style). You can find lots of pics from all sorts of magazines, they don't have to be "hair style" magazines per se. You may see a cut or color that you like in any magazine. The internet is another good source for images or the internet to give your stylist(s) something to work from. My idea of what I want isn't always easy to explain. I have a couple of pages of copy paper with pics stapled to them that I keep at the salon. When I go in for an appointment, the gal at the front desk gets them out for me. When I want to change something with regard to my cut or color, I print a few pics to take with me. That way there is no way that what I "think" I want being lost in translation. Have to say this has been the single best thing I've done to improve getting what I want. There have been times when I've taken in a picture and my colorist or stylist will reel me in with the reality of changing to that particular style. They explain why they feel that the something I see that I want may not work for either my hair texture or shape of my face. Luckily, the people I work with at the salon have a pretty good idea of what I will or won't like, or will or won't be able to deal with on a daily basis:).

Calling yesdear--or anyone else with inward opening windows
Q

Gail I feel for you - I keep scrolling the pics & am in disbelief at the windows and/or install. No expert here, by any stretch I see all the framing around the windows is new - first thing I would do is to get a LONG level out & see that the framining is level & square -based on the shimming I see (esp last pic) I would venture that the framing is not level and out of square - I even see shimming on the sides - Those custom windows should fit snug as a bug in a rug - IF : the openings were properly measured, the windows were made in accordance to those measurements, framing is done properly. I think there are several failures here - My other concern is they may even be further compromised by expansion/contraction which normally happens w/wood but may be more so in your case if the wood was green (most construction wood today is green) and if it's pine. Were measurements taken when the openings were newly framed? (they should have been). Please ck the windows from the exterior as well & post pics - the sils should have pitch so that if any water does land it would not sit on there. I just don't see that weather stripping etc is the solution, but again I'm not an expert - they really should have come with "built in" weather stripping. I just opened my Marvin window and confirmed the stripping around the entire window is "built in" a channel in which the stripping is basically permanently adhered. I just think in your case an "after market" fix will be temporary. Who was the window manufacturer? what were their specs? what type of glass is in? is it double paned how is it sealed? Did you find them or the GC? How long have they been making windows? what type of guarantee? Most window co's are very specific w/their guarantee - properly fitted, installed & painted - if they find there was failure do to any of those the guarantee/warranty is null/void. Sorry to be such a naysayer here, but I would not accept what I see in my home, & it really fires me up to see this type of thing happening to well meaning home owners. If the GC is the one who contracted with the window co - he/she has got to remedy the situation - I hope you still owe them $ & withold any payments until there is a satsifactory remedy. I would take your post/pics to both the remodeling forum & window forum on this site - You may get more expert opinion there. Good luck

Been thinking the same thing girls. Would really hate to see it go though. I used to love coming here 10x a day! Ha! We were really active there for a while though, and to keep up you had to visit often. I was assuming that everyone just had spring fever. Hopefully it'll pick back up soon.

I've been busy planting my garden but just this past weekend I had a chance to get back to making soap.
I don't sell them, have more than I need right now and have given everyone I know soap, but Dd and I decided to make some this past weekend anyway!

I finally made some loofah soap. Scented it with pink grapefruit and it makes my mouth water just smelling it! Hope to get some shaving soap made today before Father's Day has come and gone. I found the perfect mugs, and wouldn't you know it, I haven't been able to find them (along with 3boxes of rose petals, a mold, and some baskets) for 2 months. Well, I finally found them while looking for something else. Bet none of you every do this, right? LOL

Haven't really been in a bath & body mood.......still mucking stuff out here.
you can actually see more of the craft room than you've been able to in about 2 yrs. But theres still about ½ the room to do.

Well, off to make some chocoalte covered potato chips......

I am just using coffee mugs. I found some at Goodwill for .25 each. They are stoneware, and short like the shaving mugs I've seen. I'll try to post a pic when I get the sets together.

yup chocolate covered potato chips. DH loves them. I used to make them for christmas every year for a while, but have been too busy. I have a friend who's a doctor, & today is one of his nurses last day, so I'm taking over brownie bites (brownie batter in mini muffin cups, plop a mini reeses PB cup in before baking), chocolate covered potato chips & PB fudge. Ed (the nurse) loves my PB fudge, & brownie bites, & has never had chocolate covered potato chips so I figured I'd make some for him-he likes chocolate covered pretzles. usually if you like them, you like the chips..........

Hazel, those Brownie Bites sound wonderful! I know my children would love them, and I think I am going to make some for them! I don't like chocolate covered pretzels so I probably wouldn't like the chocolate covered potato chips.

P O T A T O E ???? LOL

Brain in left field I guess. Everyone get a good laugh out of that?

I love chocolate covered pretzels. Something about that salty sweet taste. Seems like they'd be hard to make. Must have to use the thick cut wavy chips? Like ruffles?

Brownies sound good too. Might have to try those.

Stoneware mugs are a good idea as shaving cups! My SO loves to shave the old fashioned way. Forget the foamy cream or electric razor.

Yes, ruffles are what I use. Some of the "off" brands are too salty or not salty enough. And they seem to be just the right thickness also.
I like to use the Ghiradeli (sp?) brand of chocoalte to dip with, but was out so I just used plain old dipping chocolate.
They were a big hit...didn't last long, neither did the brownie bites or the peanut butter fudge.........
