You've probably already realized what type of beans you have by now since it's been nearly a month since you posted but to answer your question, pole beans do not put out tendrils like peas do to grab hold of a trellis. Bean seed packages usually identify themselves as pole or bush but in case you got a seed without anything identifying it as such, the planting instructions might clue in as to whether the bean seed is pole or bush. Pole beans are usually spaced about 4-6" apart whereas bush beans are spaced closer. Also pole beans grow to 6 feet tall or more where bush beans are usually less than 2 feet tall. I'm sure they are the anaheim chilies. Its a long green chile. google images and you'll see them. Growing up in El Paso we always used these for chilies rellenos... not poblano peppers and always fresh, never canned. Even the restaurants we went to used the anaheim instead of the poblano. The first time I had a relleno outside of ElPaso it was a poblano and I thought it was a bell pepper! its just so wrong to use anything but the anaheim for a relleno. Infact I need to go char one up now so I can peel it for tonight's dinner. Recipe calls for jalapeño but I'm going to use the anaheim instead.

Yes, LOL, I do that all the time. I often see an ingredient somewhere that I've come across in a cook book or something and buy it but can't remember which recipe it goes with. I only do that with things that will last a while until I can find the lost recipe. In fact, I just did that yesterday with unsweetened coconut. I can never find that. I think those recipes are in my Indian or Jewish cook book (or both). Can you list the ingredients on the green chile paste? Thai recipes often call for green curry paste or red curry paste... I'm wondering if what you have is the same thing. The Thai stuff often has lemon grass, ginger or galangal, peppers, blah blah. The 5 Spice Powder is used in lots of dishes. I hope that maybe someone remembers posting a recipe with it, since that recipe is probably why you bought it. My Thai cook book has a recipe for Five Spice Pork Spare Ribs that looks pretty darn good. I haven't tried it... but if you want the recipe I'll type it out for you. I may be trying it soon, though, LOL. These start on the barbecue and finish in the oven. I'm glad you posted this and made me look!
