I think it sounds lovely, and the furniture grouping you linked to might give the room a multi-purpose function, as you mention (a comfy place to curl up with a good book is always a plus). As for people thinking it might be a dining area, it reminded me of a room I came across on BHG. I clipped it as a favorite, and it was a living area, with a round table and four chairs, and my DH commented that the eating area was a little small, until I pointed out that it's a "game" table, because if you look closely, it has a chest set sitting on it. THEN he thought it was a nice idea. So, as long as you maybe purpose it that way, it should be fine.

AND, who's to say you can't have it as an extra eating area? I think a sunroom would be a perfect place to have a fun tea party or very intimate dinner. ^_^

Magnaverde gave me some great advice recently -- "Never second-guess yourself." It's mental torture. I should know.

You don't have to have the two chairs at the table all the time, and if you get casters put on the table, then you can scoot it away from the window seats, floors permitting, of course.

Depends on how big the room is, but I think it will be great. I love multi-purpose rooms. I could see myself eating lunch solo, drinking coffee with a friend or the kids doing HW there.

I have always adored this set from Ballards -- what a GREAT choice for your lovely home! Multi-purpose and charming too! Hope you post pictures when its done! :)

First off, your house sounds absolutely gorgeous. Is your house a Dutch Colonial? It sounds like the one in Father of the Bride, my favorite house incidentally.

My first thought was similiar to ideefix. I don't know if I would move the table, but you could take two of the chairs and put them in a corner, as accent chairs.

I have seen that set in real life and it is perfectly wonderful. Your colour choices happen to be my absolute favorites for it, both the case goods and upholstery. You know you can't return the upholstered banquette, but you could return the table and chairs if it just did not work. One thing I really like about Ballard's furniture is that it is not too big like a lot of the stuff currently available, which makes it much more versatile. You could probably use that set in your kitchen, in a finished basement, etc. Or at some point you may want to split it up and do something different... it lends itself to a variety of applications.

We have a dining room plus a smaller rounded square table at one end of our sunroom for games or other activities a smaller table is needed for. I love the ballard set your getting. I would love to have it myself only are windows are too low in our home for such a set. You're lucky it will fit in your home.

I love the look you've chosen and I'll bet it will all look good once it's placed.

ideefixe, we were thinking of having the side chairs away from the table, against another wall, most of the time. I love the idea of casters on the table - it will make the arrangement even more versatile.

sossh, the room is long and narrow, something like 9' x 16' (I'm guessing, haven't measured lately. It has 3 very large paned windows and French doors, and it is reached through 2 large arches from the LR, on either side of the fireplace. It's somewhat awkward space; I think it was added on at some point. But it is very pleasant in there, with all the windows and a lot of green outside. I did think of the kids doing homework and art projects there.

Jan, I will post photos when I have everything. We are planning bamboo blinds on the windows in there.

newdawn, Our house is not a Dutch colonial, but it's funny that you mentioned the Father of the Bride house. I haven't seen that movie - is that the one where the mother of the bride learns that she is pregnant at the time of her daughter's wedding? If so, I've had that experience! I did remember once seeing a movie trailer with a house that looked like mine, and I did some research. I saw a photo of the FOB house, and there was a discussion about whether it was the same house used in Rumor Has It (with Shirley Maclaine and Jennifer Anniston). Apparently both houses are in Pasadena and are similar. I saw the RHI trailer on a plane and was shocked to see the house, which looks quite a bit like mine from the outside - almost the same porch. Mine is smaller, though, and less elegant, and the inside does not look the same (unfortunately!).

kswl, I'm glad to hear that you've seen this set in person. The chairs look quite nice. I was hoping to order cushions for them in fabric matching the bench, but they do not do custom cushions, so I will have to have them made somewhere else.
