Second guessing myself...
Comments (16)Realism, actually the more I look at granite, I prefer the laminate. With some of the laminates and the new effects, I actually had to go over and knock on them to determine if they were real or not. We're going with bull-nosed edging on the laminate so I don't think it'll look cheap when it's finished. Hemera, ha, yeah I asked the builder about the floor…he was polite but basically said "yeah, you can't afford it…" ;) Ppbenn, yay! :) 35ftcabo, I LOVE your kitchen! Do you know the style/name of the handles you chose? That's what I'm looking for and haven't quite found yet. And in your first pic, what is the cabinet behind the peninsula? It almost looks like a hutch…was that a custom piece? It's gorgeous! Phoebesmom, do you have any photos of your finished kitchen? I'd love to see it "in action" rather than just the sample piece I've got. I really love the color, too!...See MoreSecond guessing myself... Granite will be fabricated next week!
Comments (14)Prickly is right. A peninsula is just an attached island. LOL Frugal we had one of those too, except our house was built in the 60s, added on to several times, remodeled last in the late 90s. Too bad they didn't fix the electrical. We took it off. Looks like it would be an easy job. You could get a cabinet maker to make another set uppers to match yours and stack them on top and add new crown molding. The wood grains are lovely. We actually matched our new cabinets' stain color with our old oak trim that we are reusing. Perfect match. We had a ton of oak wood from the suspended ceiling. Check out this lowered ceiling and all the oak boards they used. It had 12' ceilings above all that ugly plastic stuff. I have about 120 of those plastic rectangles that were in the suspended ceiling. I doubt Habitat for Humanity will take them. ðÂÂÂ...See MoreShould I seal my marble shower floor and walls myself before grout??
Comments (29)I spoke to one of the workers today and told him it was industry standard to use this plastic. I don't know anything about curbs or mud, or any of those other words. I asked him about this book, and of course, he looked at me like I was crazy. My husband spoke to the contractor who said this is totally unnecessary, and that he has been doing this for years this way, even in his own house. -- I told him .- this puts me in a weird predicament because I don't want the job to be done wrong, and I'm not convinced that this is right. We are at a stand-still. I want to take a hammer to those tiles-- I am waiting to hear from the store-owner who sold me the tiles and ask her advice about what I can do now..... I am also going to ask her about the glass shower tiles with cold and hot water. This is why I hired a Contractor -- I don't want to make all these calls and teach myself how to install a bathroom, or a floor, or a fireplace! Creative - I cannot thank you enough. I looked through the book you are referring to. The contractor thinks I'm reading into everything because this isn't the first thing I've complained about.... This is the text he sent me this morning "The vinyl on floor and up walls about a foot and up seat area and on wall behind you do not need on walls unless steam shower nobody puts on wall you are reading to much No concern my own shower is done like this"...See MoreHelp with grout...not color. I am getting myself sick over this!
Comments (14)Is Laticrete Permacolor like Tec Powergrout and Mapei Ultracolor FA? What is difference? I heard that Permacolor now has a unsanded version. So, if all the issues being seen with Tec Powergrout (curing) and if is same as others mentioned, would it be likely the curing issues seen in Powergrout might also be seen in these others? I don't know if we have Laticrete Permacolor around here? Now with noticing that my subway tile may actually be 1/16 at best, but maybe even less, I guess I should go for something with no sand/aggregate regardless of aggregate size to be safe? Dang, I have too many issues....Marble hex tile has tiny spot 3 hex tiles not but 1/16, subway tile tiny grout line, floor tile on concrete and very rough grabbing texture. Just give me something that cures and stay gray and I will just not use the dang shower haha...See Moredan1888
