What wall color with this bedding? (pic)

Here is the manuf's bedding pic:

Furniture is a honey pine color. Everything is more vivid than pictured, especially the plaid and the green, but we're only dealing with the bumper, skirt, quilt and sheet.

Curtains are a sheer in a coral color that compliments the skirt but doesn't match exactly. Three panels and a scarf, so lots of color coming from the windows. Accents, window hardware, etc. are mostly white with bits of color. Trim in the room is stained, not white.

I'm hearing a lot of "paint the walls green" but there's a LOT of green here already. The green on the bedding is intense, but a light hue, not limey. I don't care for pink walls like in the manuf picture. There's so much color already I'm thinking we need to have the walls be a grounding element for neutral. I'm leaning toward a pale yellow (along the lines of Powell Buff or Ivoire), or a rich cream that's not too far removed from white (Navajo White, Creme, something light that).

Love the bedding, but i'm a pink and green lover from longgggg ago. Definitely Ivory! But use an ivory that doesn't have yellow undertones. Hold the swatches next to one another to determine if there are green/yellow/orange/brown undertones. It will be subtle, but you'll see the differences if you hold them together. You want a 'clean' ivory.

The only one i've used in the past is the Navajo, but I remember it as having yellow undertones. What paint manufacturer are you using? Sherwin Williams has a lot of ivories and gives excellent coverage IMO.

Hi Patty Cakes, thanks for the reply! Our painter uses Sherwin Williams paints, but they have promised me accuracy if they color match from another company.

If it was me, I would find a paint match of the main color in that bedding. Then that particular paint color will have a sample card with like 3 or 4 other shades/tones on it, right? I would pick one of those---my preference probably being a darker shade. It will complement that bedding and still give you a neutral palette where you can toss whatever color accessories you want in that room. Then the focus will be on your colored accessories---and it would be much easier for you to swap them out for a new look.

Thanks so much! I actually came across a magazine ad that had grey walls with silver/grey and yellows and oak trim! I LOVED it and chose my wall color by it because I loved how it looked with the oak trim but now I can't find the same ad!! I've searched high and low for another inspiration picture and cant find anything with oak trim! Also the furnture we have now *is* dark so I will get a chance to see what that looks like.. if I like it I'll stick with dark when we get our new set. :)

I think the bedding would be gorgeous with that rug if you take the bedding for a neutral. Now cross your eyes and see the solid neutral color in the bedding. Purchase your bedding and let the rug be the item that sets the stage for accent colors for in room. Beiges, khakis, sortagolds, taupes, blacks and neutrals can become wonderful room accents for your "now neutral" bedding. Oh, by the way, grab a couple pillows in a satin like fabric near or exactly the color of your background bedding color and take a piece of the bedding to the paint store and work your wall magic to pull it together.

Here's some pics of DD's room. I initially thought when I purchased the dressers(for next to nothing) that I would probably paint them white or light. The 60's barrel chair can leave the room. She has a 60's(??) dorm desk that will leave as well because it is a huge junk collector :) We like the blue paint shades and the medium toned browns. Waverly Fresh Periwinkle was a color DD liked. She's not real sure about the greens. Ironically if you watch TV, her bedding is on a commercial for the "Pedegg". The wall are white in that room. My DD is getting a kick out of this posting. She has taken an Interior Design class at school and wants to go to college to become a Family and Consumer Science teacher. The purse wallhanging was a 4H project that won special merit at out state fair. She's going to take Adv. Int. Des. next year. Maybe we need to document all of this transformation for a project! Feel free to Photoshop away. The girls said they could if only we had the program. Now they tell me! Have a Happy New Years! The pixs were re-sized on Photobuckett to web size. Why are they showing up larger here? This is our first time posting pics.

What about both soft green (sage) and pink on the walls--one upper, one lower and meeting together in the middle in a "harlequin" pattern? I don't know if that's the right term or not. I saw the cutest little girl's room using sage green and lavendar done like that and I wanted to replicate it even without having any children, it was that cute.

The best I could describe it would be..... let's say pink on top, green on bottom. Instead of the 2 colors meeting in a straight line in the middle of the wall, the lower color looked like the top of a picket fence (^^^^^^^....) and the top color coming down the same way.

Anyway, I thought it was cute, and those 2 colors would be similar and a great way to use both colors without one being too overwhelmingly dominant in the room.
