I've seen the Alessandra bedding many times in my local PB store. I love it. I bought the blue color in the shower curtain for my hall bath. The red is soft and rustic looking and I would totally go for it with that oriental rug. Unless the colors are way different than I see on my monitor, I think the rug would read neutral and you can dress your bed in the Alessandra.

That's a very pretty rug! If it were my room, I would most likely go with all white bedding.

I agree with homersmom. To me ,there is nothing that ties the Allessandra with your rug. Do white bedding but with a colorful throw for the end of the bed and decorative pillows to bring in color.

I really don't want to do white, but I think maybe a subtle stripe or a solid color quilt or duvet cover. How does that sound? I saw a coverlet in a color called cinnamon. What do you think of this idea? I'd also add some decorative pillows, and maybe have a cushion for the top of the cedar chest in the same fabric.

You seem to be drawn to reddish tones. Is there something in the rug that we are not seeing? I am seeing blue, taupe and black.
For some reason the red tones that you are choosing don't seen to go with the rug IMHO. But colors on the monitors can be deceiving.
I would bring out the light blue in the rug. Then go with the patterns on pillows or a throw for the end of the bed.

There is definitely black and taupe and if you look closely there is a rust color but not a lot. I may have to try again to get the colors to show up better. What's coming across as blue may be sage green.

Yeah -- I like rusty reds.

How about something like this, in the Pacific colorway, then you could use a throw in the reddish tone?

That is absolutely gorgeous and the pattern is subtle enough to work with the rug. Thanks for that idea -- on sale, too.

Late to the party, and please don't toss me off the home decor forum, but I recently got a set of all cotton (Fieldcrest Luxury) sheets and duvet set in white at Target. The duvet and shams in King were around $80 and the sheets $40. 400 TC, but they need ironing (I don't mind as I didn't want the coating they put on no-iron sheets).

Wanted to mention as I envisioned white, too, with the rug, and because the whole set can be had for less than the RH duvet.

I'd do a solid white or off white duvet/comforter with a sheet set that incorporates the rusty red you want. The sheets can have subtle pattern and that would not compete with the rug.
What color are the walls? Any wts?

Sorry -- no white. I had white once before and I was afraid to go near it. Plus, it is usually one of my sons who visits and stays in this room and they are not white bedding kinda guys. However, I am mostly trying to make me happy, not them.

The walls are a color called Lunar which is a pale butterscotch color.

I was just on the Kitchen decorating side. Check out francoise47's thread : "(what to put on)blank wall above banquette". She has nearly the same color theme in her kitchen i.e. the black/white with multi red prints. Looks good.

Thanks, School house. I do like that combination. I think it is the pattern in the rug more than the colors that is limiting me.

Here are a couple more pics that show the colors a little better. I swear there is no blue! Anything that looks a little blue is more of a gray-ish green.

I just happened to stumble across this pic of a room with rugs somewhat similar to mine (at least in colors) and a printed bed cover. What do you think? I wonder where I could find something like that. This picture is a hotel somewhere.

I think the bedding would be gorgeous with that rug if you take the bedding for a neutral. Now cross your eyes and see the solid neutral color in the bedding. Purchase your bedding and let the rug be the item that sets the stage for accent colors for in room. Beiges, khakis, sortagolds, taupes, blacks and neutrals can become wonderful room accents for your "now neutral" bedding. Oh, by the way, grab a couple pillows in a satin like fabric near or exactly the color of your background bedding color and take a piece of the bedding to the paint store and work your wall magic to pull it together.

What a pretty rug. I think it would be pretty with a vintage looking matelasse like this one in the taupe grey. I just used one of the quilts from this store for a newly redecorated guest room and was pleased with the quality.
