I appreciate all of the help and advice everyone!!! You really have no idea :). I decided to go with one of the area rugs Ellenoir17 suggested with blue green and grey in it. I think it will bring all my colors together very nicely and I’m definitely getting those white wooden blinds!! Thank you thank you again ladies!!! Hi Laura- I am not sure why you are showing us the bird pictures. Is it because you want us to see the shades of red you like? Are those the pictures you want on the wall? I too favor light curtains, especially as your room is painted that darker gray and the sofa is that same gray. If you want red as an accent color, you can add a vertical red band to the edge of the curtain panel. See below. You can buy a light-colored curtain and have a red band sewn on by the person who does your tailoring. As for art work above the sofa, the horizontal dimension should be 75% of the width of your sofa. You could get one piece that is that width, or get two pieces whose combined width including the separation between them adds up to that. If red is your accent, have some red in your art, and have some red in your throw pillows. But don't have them necessarily solid red. A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. You can use a print or stripe or textural weave with red and gray (is gray the color of your sofa? or whatever the color of your sofas, that color plus red). I would not have the coffee and side tables from the same set, that is too matchy-matchy. If your end tables are round, then the coffee table can be square. If your coffee table is square, then your end tables should be round. In any event, you do not need or have room for end tables on both end of that sectional. The side near the door has no room or need for an end table, people at that end can use the coffee table. You can use a smaller end table at the end with the lounger, and please carefully measure that space (maybe move the sectional a bit closer to the door?) before you purchase an end table. Another thing to think about (and what do you think Houzzers?) since that far corner is so tight, instead of having that floor lamp there, what about a wall mounted sconce? You would get two, one for either end of the sofa. They come in many styles, and some even are adjustable to slide up and down. You could get one that is a plug-in so that you don't have to pay an electrician. You can also get a plug in hanging ceiling fixture. I love this contemporary fixture by Torre and Tagus which is pricey, but you probably can find a less expensive version that is plug in or can be converted to plug in. I can't tell how dark a gray your walls really are. I would favor a lighter shade of gray for the walls. If red is your accent color, then I would consider a red ottoman as shown in the photo above which is also shown with a sectional. You can have a lovely large wood tray to put on top for serving, and the ottoman can serve as extra seating, and you can even find an ottoman with storage inside. As for rugs, it depends what your tastes are. If you want to go contemporary, you can get a swirl design in red, black and white and gray. Or a handmade Oriental in either a Persian or nomadic style.

If you're sure about the couch, and love it enough to take it with you later wherever you move -you can make it work. Think of something containing the same colors as an inspiration. Say a bit stormier gloomier day on some northern coast. Rocks and sand and dark deep gray sea. Or-a desert in the evening. Nature is a great source of inspiration. Or it can be something you saw in a movie or book illustration or art. Out of all the imaginary(or found in books, internet, movies etc) pictures, choose one that speaks to the mood you want to create in the room. Then try to translate it onto your room. Repeat the colors some. Say in accessories..or art..it can be traditional or modern, drawing or etching or painting or graphic print..having maybe some black, some white in it. Make sure the chosen art speaks to you. That it's not only there to tie the room together, that it's more than that-part of what fascinates you. add metals-I'd go for gold finishes here. Can be frames, furniture pieces (side tables? coffee table? etagere? ), lamps... It'll be like that desert sky with stars..when everythings comes so alive, and the lansdcape that can read as sad and dangerously moody starts being thought provoking, inspiring, contemplative, hopeful (if one's lucky)) I believe it will also go well with luxirious velvety nature of your couch. You need a bit of reflective surfaces..metals as I've said..glass, mirror..you don't want your neutrals to fall flat, you need to create depth and add some shine..in nature, it just happens, in room, we have to help the room to feel the way we want it to feel. Obviously pay attention to lighting..or there will be not too much to reflect. Lighting, besides being extremely useful, also creates moods, and makes rooms more beautiful. And creates layers. You want your eye to travel a bit, to decipher a room slowly. Pick pieces that are not too visually heavy as supporting pieces, as not to overwhelm the room. I see some dark wood too-use it but sparingly, if possible. You can discover you're more of a pattern person. more colorful person..you can work it in too, with fabrics etc(a rug? a throw? a vase with pattern?)...just go slowly with that until you figure out where you still want to add, where you'd rather substract. I wanted to ask "does it make sense?" but I'm afraid of an answer)) but yes, you can make it work.

those walls are not that dark. for versatility, I'd choose a grey couch that's darker than your walls. then you can add color with lots of bright accessories. maybe consider a new coffee table in a lighter wood tone. the bonus is that it will actually not look as dirty (dust really shows up on dark wood furniture). or if you have your heart set on a more colorful couch, a dark teal or navy blue will look good here. you'll still want to add bright accessories to lighten up the space. what are those dark lines on the floor? is that a rug on top of your carpet?
