replacing vinyl bathroom floors w/ tile

I know several on here have done it, some even DIY, so I have a question--how "involved" is it? I was told on the bath (or flooring?) forum awhile back the technical side about underflooring, but thought I'd ask here for answers *I* will understand :-)

The current vinyl floor was put down originally, so it's under the vanities and tub, etc. Do you just "cut out" the vinyl at that point? And the subflooring too (so you can put down the proper backing for tile)? I gather you take off the quarter-round (toe?) molding and the door trim, but what do you do about the door jambs? Just cut as close to it as you can and then when you tile, just caulk (?) to close that gap? We have 3 doors in the masterbath to deal with.

We'll probably be relocating soon, and we need to have tile bathrooms (to go with the rest of the upgraded house). We're about to replace the crappy toilet, so this would be as good a time as any to do it.

Thank you for any ideas/hints, etc. as I start my "research".
