Bathroom vinyl tile colors

I have a 1980s cultured marble sink in light beige. The cabinets and mirror frame are espresso. What I would really like to do is put in light gray vinyl tile flooring but can't figure out how to make it go with the beige marble. What tone can I paint those cabinets that might tie in a gray floor with a beige countertop? The other problem I'm having is finding luxury vinyl tile in something other than faux wood. I just had my 1950 floors refinished. It seems clashy to have a faux wood on the bathroom floor and real wood in a different color outside the door. Or is it just me? Do people actually do this successfully? The sample on the floor is a beige that's still not light enough in that small space.

Because it is very trendy right now faux encaustic tile is available in LVP.

Not just you. It is clashy and not recommended by most Pros. I don't know which bathroom this is but MUST the floor be replaced? On my screen, the current tile is a better option than vinyl plank. Obviously, your budget determines your project scope and as much as I hate grout in a bathroom, I wouldn't be in a hurry to take out a tile floor if it's in good shape.

We are doing master bath remodel and previous owners had vinyl plank flooring laid over the concrete foundation-- the people who did the work said that if the baseboard is high enough (ours is about 3" of wood--not tile.. they said the vinyl plank was run to the baseboards and cut to fit then silicone caulk was used along that joint... So far have noticed no issues anyplace in house this was done--not just in bathroom... we are taking out all LVT in master suite and replacing it with 1 type of flooring for unified look after master bath is redone--since we can't get the type of flooring in there now--not made anymore-- they won't need to add a quarter round on top of the LVT... so as long as you are happy with how the LVT would look butting up to the ceramic tile baseboard--maybe you can do the same... IS the ceramic baseboard in good shape? Still tight?

Didn't tile a bathroom, but did do our kitchen (DIY). One other item to consider is the height of the new tile floor - by the time you add backerboard, thinset/mortar, tile, etc, you're going to gain about an inch or so. That might be an argument for pulling up the existing floor/subfloor. But that isn't necessarily required, if it's sound and you don't mind the (potential) elevation change. Personally, I would pull out the vanity temporarily and tile under it. It can look a little odd to lose part of the bottom of the vanity to tile (this also facilitates installation - a consideration if you're going to DIY). Same thing with a toilet, though you said you were going to replace that. You would remove any molding that touches the floor - quarter round, baseboard, door casing, etc. Label them carefully as you take them off, if you're going to reuse them! LOL Once the new tile is in, dried, grouted, etc, these would get reinstalled (and would likely need cut to a new height/length). Depending on the clearance you have under your doors now, they may or may not need cut down in height. If they're not solid doors (i.e. are hollow-core), there's a definite limit to how far they can be cut down. Depending on how mathematically inclined you are, look into "deflection ratings" for tiles (or ask the flooring forum). That will give you some idea about what type of subfloor, etc, you should be looking into.

Sumod- The medicine cabinets are simple wood frames with a cabinet-grade plywood back that just sit in the stud cavity. Because of the dimensions, the front of the frame projects about 1"+ beyond the finished wall. The medicine cabinet doors are also plywood with veneered edges and they are attached to the frame with standard cabinet hinges (Euro hinges). The mirrors are just 1/4" plate glass ordered to size from a glass shop and held in place with mirror mastic and a metal strip at the bottom that you don't really see. The guy who did the cabinets just made the medicine cabinets as part of the job. I don't know about the door brand...we live in a large metro area that has lots of door shops and the doors are just solid core maple doors with the center cut out and a maple panel held in with molding. They're not stained; they simply have a couple coats of clear spray lacquer.

Look at Coretec. Many choices in LV tiles.

I like Rorah’s idea as well.

I am not a fan of wood or wood look for a bathroom.

That's cheap white tile. You're right that it would look better than faux wood nut it doesn't look good. Under it, is a layer of linoleum. Vinyl can float on top of that tile. I would rather remove it all. But then the door jams would all have to be repaired as there would be big gaps. Trying not to hyperventilate!

In a narrow Jack and Jill bathroom, wouldn't you need to keep the tile very plain and avoid looking too busy? Or can I get away with one of the trendy tiles?

Fwiw, a tile floor can be painted. Don't know your budget, your reno goals or the scope of your project but working with fixed elements in a house will often save you a good chunk of change, especially in a bathroom.

Do you think a trendy pattern would age too quickly? In a narrow Jack and Jill, would it be too busy? The thing I most hate is that there are four doors! I would love to have pocket doors but the plumbing prevents that.

IMO get a new counter what you have is dated and a new one is probably not as expensive as you think. IMO the encaustic look vinyl would be fun in there too.

Although very trendy encaustic tile has been around for centuries so it is a classic in a sense. LVP or linoleum is also a great inexpensive and easy way to change your mind in the future without feeling economically wasteful.
