Newer Lawn Tractors vs Old Lawn Tractors
Comments (39)reply by theodocus struck me as coming from the desk of the ad agency of MTD. No mention of the actual operation that involves rolling over uneven terrain and jarring action from bumps and uneven spots and the fragile fabricated axles that bend and crack easily. Oh, there is also the bushings used in place of ball bearings: bushing use requires higher horsepower to move the newer units. The Deere has points and condenser; cost $5.00 and 9.00 respectively and the sears is a solid state igntion. Newer technology is wonderful as long as it is coupled with quality assemblage in a product. I have a 1968 Sears GARDEN tractor with a 12HP Tecumseh Heavy duty cast iron engine with ball bearings and cut with a 42 inch deck and also have a 1976 John Deere GARDEN tractor with a cast iron 10 HP engine with ball bearings and cut with a 42" deck and use both alternately for mowing two acres and for tilling and moving earth, etc.. Each has cast iron axles and mutli-speed hi-lo transmissions and EACH is used for plowing, snowblowing, tilling earth, hauling 1100 lb loads in attached large carts. EACH will run circles around the new 20 plus HP light LAWN tractors made today. Spend 5,000.00 and you will have a comparable heavy duty GARDEN tractor. By the way, good luck on getting even 10 years of use with the new wonders....See MoreOlder vs. newer
Comments (20)I had a gorgeous Pope John Paul bloom today - I would photo it tomorrow...but I am going to Tyler to Chamblees....cant wait! A red that I love is Alec's Red - smells just great and beautiful blooms. The McCartney Rose is a bloom machine and very fragrant. Honeysweet, a Buck rose, is an unusual color and big bloom. Carding Mill by Austin is a favorite. About Face is a beauty - my bush is huge and blooms lots. Dorcas, another Buck, is a real winner - always has blooms, hybrid tea form. Chuckles is a complete standout in my yard - in hot, full sun and is sort of a neon pink with a white eye - always in bloom and you can see it a mile away - Chamblees has it. Belinda's Dream is a perennial favorite......Sparkle & Shine is a pretty new yellow. Could go on and on......so many nice ones....See MoreMonday - Somethings old - Somethings newer
Comments (16)Nice pictures. I have on my list that I own Red volunteer, but if I do I don't know where it is, it has never bloomed. It seems to do so well for everyone & I do love those deep reds. Well, come to think of it, I don't know too many daylilies I don't like though :) Thanks!...See More*blush* How do you use powder detergent in newer machines?
Comments (3)I always add the powdered detergent directly on to the dry clothes in my FL and then start the machine. I've never had a splotch. I also add dry bleach at the same time. My daughter's FL has a place in the top of the machine to add the detergent, so she doesn't put it directly on the dry clothes. I added powdered detergent to the dry clothes in my top loader too. Never had a splotch on those clothes either. I think the agitation is enough to get the powder well dissolved. I use either Charlie's Soap or Tide HE. Both work well. Enjoy...See Moredawnp
