4" Gap Between Wall and Gas Range: how to disguise
Comments (7)Agree about moving the gas line. When we remodeled our kitchen we had our gas line moved and placed to accommodate a certain range. We later changed our mind and selected a different range, necessitating another relocation of the gas line. Every range we looked at had different specs for the location of the gas line. It was a fairly simple DIY project, but our gas line was in the wall. Not having the range flush against the wall would be my "last resort" option....See MoreHelp: how to disguise 4" gap between wall and new gas range
Comments (8)If I am visualizing this correctly, I think that a shelf is a great idea. Whether this is a range with a back or a slide in with a level top, it should work. SS would be my first choice, easy and readily available. You also might be able to find a scrap of matching pre-fab granite either at a local yard/shop or online, if yours is one of the common granites. If you have more of your tile, you could also tile a piece of wood for the shelf and bring the wall tile down to counter level. Edited to add: Can not your plumber move the gas outlet closer to the wall? Mine was moved with little difficulty, but he had access from the basement....See MoreFilling gaps between countertop and range
Comments (14)@live_wire_oak and @weedmeister thanks for the tip. Looks like the Costco installer was an amateur. I asked him the exact same question and he mentioned the grates will be aligned and not the top of the stove. He also never checked the level. I guess I will call them and ask if they can send someone more knowledgeable over. For the back it says 1inch gap is enough but who knows, looks like no one knows what they are doing anymore. Also, I am hoping that once I install the microwave on top the vent will be pretty good and quickly remove any heat. @wacokid yeah I wish I never asked the question about cooktop + wall oven below the cooktop (instead of raised in the wall) on Houzz. After hearing it is not a popular combo in the US, I decided to demolish my current setup and change. Big mistake! Thanks for the filler options @Shannon_WI....See MoreHow would I fill this barn door gap?
Comments (25)Terrific resolution -- looks great! FWIW, I think barn doors are great problem solvers for many situations. If people would start calling them sliders instead of barn doors I don't think posters would get as much negativity when mentioning them -- "barn door" conjures a certain image; however, there are all sorts of styles of barn doors (ahem...sliders) from down-on-the farm to sleek, ultra-contemporary....See Morecompiler
