Okay- let's talk bedding. I have spent hours searching (online and in stores) and I keep coming back to the RH bedding. So I went back to my store today. They were out of about half of what I needed and wanted so I ordered it (w/ free shipping) and I should have it ALL by the end of the week. Here is what I decided on. 1 King Duvet Cover in the 18th Century Medallion (in link above.) Pacific, so it does have a hint of blue. 2 Matelasse King Euro Shams in Fog (also linked above) 2 Lumbar "accent pillows" in cashmere.. one for each sham. I brought home 2 colors- a gray and an icy blue and need to choose. 1 Matelasse coverlet to act as a blanket- will be between the duvet cover and sheets. ***bought in Eucalyptus which is an icy blue color. The salesman talked me into this and I an really second guessing this for 2 reasons. #1- $179 is a LOT of money for a blanket that might not been seen. I could find a blanket at HomeGoods for $39 that would be fine. #2- *if* I stick w/ it, should I exchange it for Fog (color) so it matches the shams?? I really like the pop of color, but let's say, in the summer time, I decide to let the coverlet show more... wouldn't I want it to match the shams? Or am I trying to be too matchy-matchy??? (a problem of mine.) Wdyt??? Solid choices? I do need to get a king, light weight duvet on order. Any recs? What caught my eye but that no one else has commented upon is the mention of using "crumpled up newspaper fliers." If you are referring to the slick inserts with colored ink -- DON'T use that. Plain white newsprint with black (soy-based) ink is ok but as for paper, I prefer brown paper whenever I come across it (like grocery bags - not often since I use canvas bags for grocery shopping - or the brown packing paper that Amazon sends sometimes). I run it through our cross-cut shredder and always keep a bucketful of bits on hand in case I get issues with too much moisture. Toss in a few handsful and mix it in to soak up excess wetness. In the fall, for years I have saved bags of dry, finely- shredded autumn leaves (mostly maple) to use as bedding. (Be careful not to get freshly-mowed, green grass mixed with leaves as that combo will quickly heat up beyond worms' comfort zone!) But chopped leaves work great, no issues with invaders (well, now & then - see last paragraph), always something there for the herd to eat if I am away awhile or short on kitchen scrap rations. I do have lots of pill bugs/roly polys busily scavenging around on the surface, but they help to break down the bigger stuff for the worms. When I sort out worms from finished compost I pitch scores of the mini-armadillos into a bucket with some leaf litter in the bottom and then pitch the whole shebang out the back door and into the flower bed. Always plenty left behind to re-populate the bins. Now & then I'll see an orange centipede from outdoors that immediately is given the heave-ho back outdoors. And if a house centipede shows up, it's Death to the Beast. Pretty much always have some mites; not all mites are bad.

@bluemarble thank you! “Crazy market” is the word that describes the situation, we lost on 4 offers to other bidders who were buying cash, over the asking price, waiving appraisal (or all of the above). When this house came along on a Sunday morning, we had our offer ready, our agent requesting the 1st appointment, and me looking at it via facetime, and finally got it 😉. Below are the MBR pictures of the new house; there is a wall-mounted wood headboard along with some “farmhouse word art” throughout the house. I intend to live with it, while I figure out the new spaces. So, my immediate need is the foundation/ box spring, because I will take the mattress but not my current bed frame/ boxspring (that needs to be replaced). These are currently my favorite inspiration pics. I'm dreaming of a "well-dressed" bed that can look beautiful like these for special occasions, but has practical and comfy components that can be used separately on the daily. The first pic is my current fave, but the second is pretty high up on my list too. I think I really like the navy comforter in both. I've been thinking to copy one or the other, but so far, in all my browsing, I haven't yet found plaid sheets with navy, cream and brown to dupe the first pic. As for the second one, I figure I can get sheets and comforter from Target or the like (although comforter won't have the pretty piping at the seam) but I haven't found such a vibrantly striped quilt/throw blanket with similar colors to the pic yet either. In the meantime, I'm thoroughly confusing myself by also liking this idea of striped sheets, adding a quilt/throw blanket on top for accent and additional use. And these are the same stripes, but in a comforter. I could do navy sheets and a cream accent blanket/throw/quilt. Or the reverse but I'm all about practical and cream sheets for occasional bedwetters scare me. Same idea with this one, I can do plaid duvet cover/comforter, with navy or other solid sheets, and add a throw or quilt for decoration. So of course I don't stop and choose one track, I keep browsing pictures, products and ideas. Rambling here, but I'm thinking it may be most practical/sustainable to go with a navy comforter, that way it's easy to change out for different sheets/accents at any time. Going with a striped or plaid comforter is more of a fixed decision for the next bit. On the other hand, I do really like how it looks... In case you can't tell, I'm not great with decisions. It's a wonder I'm married! If anyone still reading has an opinion on my selections, please do share!
