help matching wall paint with bedspread

Hi everyone, I am thinking of painting my bedroom walls for the first time. I have the anthropologie Laelia bedding (http://images.anthropologie.com/is/image/Anthropologie/993267_095_b?$product410x615$) and I want to paint the walls with Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage paint. Will this look ok? I'd post a photo of a room with the silver sage paint but it might be best just to google it. It looks a little bit different in every photo depending on the light. My parents have silver sage in their bedroom and it's wonderful but their bedspread is really muted. FYI, The green in the bedspread is just a little bit warmer than it looks in the photo. It's more of an avocado color but I really don't want to match my walls to that color; it would be overwhelming.

If this would be a bad combination, does anyone have an idea for a color that would look better? I'm trying to stick with light-ish, cool colors. I plan to tie it all together by using black picture frames/furniture to match the strong black outlines in the bedspread.

I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks!

The gray on the border of that skirt looks more like a cool gray than a greenish gray to me. You'll have to pull paint samples as previous posters have suggested, but look at Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray. It is a cool, medium gray that is light enough to feel airy, but dark enough to give some contrast to your bedspread. I have it in my guest room with similar colors (a yellow bedspread similar to the yellow in yours, and cobalt blue pillows and mattress cover). I also have pictures framed in black and I think they are fine. No need to have everything reframed!

I went to the paint samples on the RH website, and looked at them with the spread.

It might just be my monitor, but I don't see silver sage (or anything in that family) working with the strong colors in the spread.

Seems like Saffron would be great to pick up on the overall spread pattern, or Flint to pick up on the trim. The other greens in the RH collection might work, but still don't seem yellow-green enough for the spread.

Here's a more accurate photo of the bedding. I think a pale aqua would look incredible with that gorgeous spread.

I'd pick the color from that warmer greige stripe, towards the bottom of the pillow. Take the pillow to a paint store and see what matches or ask someone who works there. Our BM store has a color consultant on staff. I'd probably pick the wider lighter stripe, or something between that and the narrower stripe. (Maybe something like BM Collingwood) Then I would use some pops of color for pillows, lamps, art, in a color that you like (blue, red, teal, green, whatever).

Yes, i'm needing help with wall color for my bedroom and I want a color that will look well with my master bath. I only have a dresser and we are replacing it, but we haven't gotten any new furniture yet. I really like the dark espresso wood though, so i'm pretty sure thats the furniture that will be in there. Our floor is just the frieze tan carpet. I'm not good at this, so I don't have decorations. I thought if I found a bedspread that I liked, I could build off of it. Thanks!

I'm not an expert but when choosing paint colors, I prefer contrast. I would get a few samples and paint some spots on the wall to see what works the best with your tile. If the tile leans more towards white I think a soft sage color would be pretty with the elements you've described, but if your tile leans towards a brown, it's hard to say. If you can post pictures, it would really help.

Sheen dulls out over time so a shiny paint will never match in sheen exactly right away. Also, matching the texture is important. You don't want to use a paintbrush over a surface that was rolled. Sometimes, it's just not possible for the paint to match exactly though after some time has passed, especially with washable paint, and touching up in areas where there is light coming in from windows is shining down the wall is almost impossible.

Yayagal, the bedding you posted is not the bedding the OP has. She says she has Laelia bedding, and what you linked is Esparanza. It appears that her bedding is discontinued, as a search of Anthropolgie's website results only in a sham that is on sale.

I would go with the pale gray in the border if I wanted a cooler tone to the room.

If I wanted to go with a warmer color, I'd pick up on the greenish gold.

I'd probably match the color on the strip and go a few shades lighter...if it's in a room with that saturated color on the wall, it would be over powering for me.

Thanks Les and you're right about the R.H. collection. Those colors wouldn't work. Time to look at other options.
Kitty do you want only a green tone? You're colors are so bright on the bedding which I love. It appears there is a green in the flower petal. Perhaps a tone of that color would work.

I picked our wall color that went with our bedding by taking many swatches and holding them next to and near the bedding. That's really the only way to tell if a color will work. Online shades just aren't true representations of colors. It's best to see both in their true light and near one another. We could better help with pics of the swatches near the bedding too if possible.

But from the pic of the bedding it looks like there is a gray border. You could try various grays to see if any work. BM Gray Owl comes to mind first. Horizon is another. I love the bedding. It's very fresh and pretty!

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad I decided to ask someone before just winging it and ordering the paint. I love that paint and I love my bedspread but I guess loving two things doesn't make them look good together! Always an important thing to remember.

I do like the idea of a gray, though. I like cool tones in general; I'd like for my room to feel like a sanctuary. I've always had a pale blue (one of the RH colors, can't remember which) in the past but I'm moving and I was thinking I'd mix it up by going green. I'm going to use the ikea leirvik bed frame (I'm a year out of college and it is both cute and cheap) and originally I was toying with the idea of painting the frame black. Should I leave it white as is and paint the walls a dark enough gray for contrast? I'd still like it to feel sort of fresh. Does anyone have a nice fresh grey paint to suggest? I've seen really nice pictures of grey and white color schemes and would be interested in pursuing something like that with the bedspread as an accent but my picture frames are all black. Some of them were custom and the thought of having them reframed makes me sort of nauseous- so expensive! Would black frames ruin it? Thanks again, I really appreciate the advice. I'm so new to all of this and I'm on such a small budget. I've been picking up furniture on craigslist as I go and I can't say much of it matches. Any advice on offsetting that would be appreciated. Let me know if I should start a new thread for this since it's sort of off topic.

I took my pillow sham to Home Depot and they were able to custom mix and match the color but I asked for it to be lighter (don't remember what % they did) and it worked perfect.

I already recommended BM Horizon and Gray Owl above. I'd grab as many BM swatches as you can and bring them home and look at them with your comforter and see which you like best.
