Brass better be back! Check out this lamp I bought!
Comments (16)Nanny2a - If I'm understanding what you wrote the bottom of my lamp shade should be like 20" in diameter? That sounds and looks huge? Did I do that right? I measured from the bottom to the bottom of the socket base and got 22". Hmmm.. Threed - Oh no I wouldn't light them. They don't fit anyhow. I'll have to head to a lamp store with the lamp in hand. Chloe - I don't know that the tea lights would look right. I don't think I even have any to try right now though. Trailrunner - Thank you for those sites! The candle covers sound way better than the folded paper idea. ha I like the look of the candle cover things. What do you put on the top part? Or nothing because it's covered? Here's the ebay lamp I was talking about. I emailed the seller asking about the height of the shade. The bottom of it is 17" the top is 13". Lamp height is 35" I bought this shade just to get an idea. This is made so that you don't have to use a harp so I think it sits too low and it's not wide/big enough. This shade is 14" at the bottom, 10" top and height is 9.25". So I'm thinking I need one similar to the size of the ebay one? I'm going to try and find some lamp stores this week. Hopefully someone can help me and what I need is all right there....See MoreDo you still like(and use) brass?
Comments (47)I have a big honkin' 12 light solid brass chandelier I bought for a fortune back in 97. It was a gift from my Dad. I think it is probably too big for the room and table, but it is traditional and very well made. I may buy a smaller non brass one, but this one will go into the attic. I also have the solid brass sconces my Parents gave us on our first wedding anniversary, some 30 years ago. They stay. Its an old house 1923 so all of the doorknobs are glass and real aged brass or metal of some kind.I wouldnt think of changing them....See MoreThoughts on Antique Brass for Door handles/knobs
Comments (19)I am in the same place, finally have most of my brass removed. When I bought my home it was a combo of shiny brass, antique brass and chrome. Now many years later it is a combo of oil rubbed bronze with a little shiny brass (mainly shower doors) and chrome remaining in baths and some doorknobs. At this point my favorites are oil rubbed bronze and chrome, I do not want to go back to brass at all shiny or antique - not sure why but I just don't....See MoreDanze Opulence.. Comments (18)jennsbabysky - I have had to return the old faucets to them in additional to sending in photos. They did agree to pay for the shipping after I pressed the point and spoke with someone in the corporate office in Canada. It has taken me many hours on the phone and many emails to try to resolve this issue. They did and do offer replacement parts pretty easily, but honestly after the failure of the shower valve and tub valves which caused us to tear out a huge fully tiled custom shower and tiled tub deck, I do not want to chance putting this brand back into my home, so I asked for a refund instead. I had my original receipts. After many calls it appears at this point that they will refund part of the fixtures that are not involved in an insurance claim due to the amount of damage that our shower and wood floors sustained. I will say that they have been very professional on the phone during every single call. But their process is very slow and I asked right up front when I filed the claim initially if they needed the faucets returned as stated on their website and was told repeatedly, no by all of the representatives. So three weeks later I can say that some of the communication between departments seems to be lacking. We are not talking about a lot of money relative to the amount of time and effort it has taken to resolve the matter. Their ability to balance the monetary value of a potential lifetime customer verses the bottom line, in my opinion, is not balanced. Perhaps a change in policy so that under a certain amount the customer is offered an opportunity to receive either parts or refund, might enable their customer service department to execute these claims more quickly. But that's just my opinion....See MoreUser
