Do you still like your white tile?
Comments (5)My 1914 house has white subway tile on the bathroom walls and white hex tile on the floor, both with a gray grout. That tile has stood up just fine as will have many other examples of 100 year old installations of that sort. If the concern is with maintaining a bright white grout, that would be another story, of course. The grout has stayed reasonably clean but maybe we are just lucky nobody tracked tar in. I have a fairly new white tile shower with gray grout about 11/2 years in use now. By using a good sqeegee after every use and minimizing cake soap no cleaning has been necessary at all with multiple person daily use. Tile guy prevented us from making the mistake of using bright white grout which would not have looked good and hard to keep bright....See MorePersil users do you still like this product?
Comments (57)Roseark...When is your new Electrolux Wave Touch set being delivered??? Your experience with Tide he Powder is the EXACT reason I have decided to NEVER use it again. Over the years with my Miele units, I would always try and go back to Tide he Powder. I actually like the scent A LOT, and it is so affordable and available everywhere. Everytime I used it though, my clothes seemed "coated" and looked dull. Stains and odors were gone, but the clothes did not look bright and fresh. The BIG thing in both my Miele units and also my new Electrolux units, was that after every load using Tide he Powder...the stainless steel wash drums were coated, dull and if you ran your finger across the steel drum & and then looked at your finger..you could see a faint white residue on my finger! Every load! Whites, colours, sheets...warm water, hot water, cold water, sanitize, etc... I called our local water district and asked them, and the said with my zip code we do NOT have "hard" water. Tide just makes my clothes and stainless wash drum look horrible. Love my Persil and actually Sears Ultra Plus he Powder with Stain fighters. It's great and SO, SO cheap!!!...See MoreSatin Brass & Antique Brass Lamps- outdated or still in style?
Comments (18)I would have put the lamps in my storage room (spare bedroom filled with 4 book cases and three 4-drawer putty cabinets) for extra lighting if they were very outdated. I guess I want my home to look nice as I am fixing it up. I like them too much to part with them and keep hoping one day to have a bigger place to have one more room to decorate. I still love the lamps but wish I had white lamps for my guest/exercise room but since these are still nice( bought them last year.... think September 2007), I will make do. SInce I bought the white wicker dresser in that room, I guess I was hoping to make it more white. Should I keep the lamps shades or get white ones? The cream shades really do go well with the brass lamp. I already spent so much on my new Durham Solid Wood Sand White finish bedroom set and now my new air conditioner/heating/compressor unit since my old one just died on me and caused a flood in my home two weeks ago. It was so expensive. I had planned to use the money for hardwood floors but now I can't do that for another year....See MoreTile or stainless steel behind cooktop. Do you still like yours?
Comments (2)I like anything that doesn't have grout lines. So, that would be stainless steel, traditional backsplash materials (granite, quartz, ...), or even back-painted glass. A backsplash typically doesn't get horribly dirty, because you don't regularly touch it. But it does slowly accrue grease from cooking. Large smooth surfaces all can be cleaned pretty easily. Grout lines will get grimy over time and always look ugly, even if you applied sealer. It is possible to clean grout lines with strong chemicals (e.g. bleach or "Viper Venom"). But it's a pain to do, and the results aren't necessarily perfect....See Moreoceanna
