my new master suite layout

Can you guys give me some opinions on the layout of my master bath and bedroom addition. The current bedroom is 11x11'6"

We are planning on adding 8ft to the left and 6ft to the bottom of the room. The bathroom space in the pics is about 8x12'7"

The closet I have drawn in is 4x8. I am wondering what your opinions are of the layout and also if you would do anything different.

I would turn the bath so the long side was against the bedroom and run it the entire length of the wall. There's too much projection out from the house. I don't know where you live, but it would also be a little easier to heat with less sticking out.

Final Plans - have incorporated most suggestions that made sense. -Back middle bathroom has tub in front, door moved to left to leave room for towel rack or hooks. -master shower widened to full 4 feet X 5'10" with head on back wall to allow for possible doorless shower. - front right bedroom closet squared off. - all kids bedroom closets now have slider doors to allow for full mirrors (have them now and work well). - worked out the pocket door on the master toilet room - it fits okay - am going with double hung windows in front of house, but casements on sides and back. Casements are smaller for the same egress requirements and allow for more wall space in bedrooms Still some small cleanup on the plans, but pulled the trigger on the construction drawings. thanks to everyone for all the assistance. Don't think I would be at this point without all the interaction and advice.

>Pretty nice as it is now, but here is another possibility: DD's bedroom moves to the inside corner where the MBA currently is drawn. Current door to MBR becomes door to DD's room, closet is on top wall separating DD's room and MBR. MBR oriented with the short wall on the R now. Door from hallway can have view through to window. MBA on far left wall, from top to bottom, shower/bath room, vanity, toilet room. Passage from MBR to MBA has reach in closet on the lower wall (in line with toilet room) and large walk-in on top side. I think you can get a 6-7' reach in and a 14+ linear ft of hanging space in the walk-in. Stack the rods for more. >Either way, I'd let DD choose her bedroom and have the bath be close to it, swapping the laundry and secondary bath if needed to make that work out. That also will make it easy to use the extra room if you occasionally want additional laundry drying space ;-) Good luck!

Your layout looks like it works, although I don't know about dimensions. I'm wondering if you can eliminate the hallway into your room and the room above your bath, to incorporate all that extra space into your rooms.

To the top of my bedroom is the hallway and above that my sons room. In fact if you look at the bathroom next to the toilet and shower stall I placed his new closet.

Sorry its hard to tell from the pics being that I didnt include that stuff in there.

Also I am going to be using radiant floor heating in the bathroom.

I'm not sure what kind of opinions you are looking for, but it sure would be easier to see how the rest of the house is laid out.

Yes, posting the rest of the house will help increase feedback. Do you have a two dimensional floorplan with dimensions?

I see problems with your bathroom set up.

1. You have a very tiny vanity planned for two sinks. Can you enlarge the vanity at all?

2. You have an itty bitty shower planned. I would hate to use that on a daily basis. A shower without room for a bench is very uncomfortable for a woman to shave and other ablutions. :)

3. The closet is too narrow to be a walk-in You need at least 5' to make a comfortable walk-in closet.

1. The vanity measures 60 inches total it looks like I can enlarge it easy enough
2. The shower is 4ft square, I thought that was big enough, but I will thank about what you said especially about the other ablutions ; )
3. I based the closet on looking at what others said online. I read several places that 4x8 was enough for a walkin but I can maybe go to 4 1/2 by 8 but would hate to lose more bedroom space.

Also I will soon add more to the drawing and also give some measurements.
