Don't do it. I used to brush a little dye on my eyebrows when doing color touch-ups. It's so drippy I'm afraid it will run in my eyes, so I no longer attempt eyebrows. Hmm, my daughter is a professioinal hairdresser, maybe she can advise better...

I would do it! BUT I would NOT use hair dye. I believe there are eyebrow dyes available. Start light, it's easier to darken... probably not so easy to lighten!

Actually, I'd probably try the henna dye first. I used to henna my hair and it was glorious! Thick looking and oh so shiny!

I started dyeing my eyebrows about 6 months ago. I dye them using the exact same dye I use for my hair. My brows have always been black even though my hair is a light brown. Now, at 50+, there is a lot of grey in them. I took an old mascara wand and cleaned it and use it specifically for my brows. I dye them at the same time I do my hair. The dye I use isn't drippy. It's more of a gel. I think it works great! I had no idea there was a dye made specifically for eyebrows.

Except it looks absolutely hilarious/scary when I am doing them. Remember last season's America's Got Talent? There was an older woman on there who played the keyboard and sang atrociously. Her lips, hair and eyebrows were a scream. That's what my eyebrows look like while I'm dying them.

My hair dresser hits my eyebrows every time I go in for my hair color. She leaves it on for a shorter time than the dye on my head but it's the same stuff.

Yep, I do exactly what Donna does but I use a q-tip to apply it and chapstick to protect the skin I don't want dyed around them. You will look silly for sure when you're doing it!

When I used to lighten my hair, I used the same stuff to lighten my brows. Easy

My brows are about half white, so I often dye them using an eyebrow dyeing kit I bought at the beauty supply store. The kit also has a bleaching agent to remove the dye from your skin after dyeing the brows. The kit is not cheap, but it will last you for years.

How do the rest of you remove any dye from your skin when you use the hair dye on your brows?

Sheila, read my post above. I use chapstick on the skin around my brows so that the dye doesn't stain my skin. I also use it at my hairline and neck line since I have short hair.

I use the tinted brow gel rather than dye. I get mine from Sephora at the mall.

Maybelline still sells tinted (taupe) eyebrow gel online; you can get it thru amazon.com.

SheilaJoyce, I am very careful and rarely get any on the skin around my eyebrows. The mascara wand is fairly precise. But on the rare occasion that I do, I use regular old peroxide on a Q-tip to clean it up before I set my timer.

Set your timer? There's timing involved? I assumed you just wipe it on and hope for the best. LOL

Thanks to everyone for your input. One way or another, I'll probably give this a shot. Perhaps I'll look for the brow gels first, though.

The lady that waxes my eyebrows also colors them. I've heard you're not supposed to use hair dye on eyebrows.

When I was very young, my mother had her brows amd lashes dyed black at the beauty shop. She was so scary looking when she came home. I hope techniques are better now.

Angela, it is eyelashes you aren't supposed to use hair dye on. My hair stylist has sometimes colored my eyebrows when she colors my hair. She uses the same dye as the darker color of my hair.

I use the same dye I put on my hair. Just take some and dab it up there. I don't leave it on as long as I leave it on my hair. Works for me!! L'oreal #6--light brown.

I wish I had enough to dye!! Pencil is my best friend. No, I will not have them tatooed......

I put the same product on my eyebrows as my hair, but I leave it on just as long. I think your eyebrows should be the same has your hair so I make sure mine are. It says right on the box not to put it on your eye brows. They do not want to be responsible for someone who isn't careful and gets the dye in their eye. The skin is also more sensitive to chemicals around my eyebrows..but a little lotion after takes care of that.

Just to add another vote in the mix, when I do my hair, I do my brows.....you don't have to put enough on them for it to be drippy. I use a little brush and just brush it on.
